This is a beautiful home with equally beautiful surroundings! It had everything we needed to enjoy our family trip to southern Illinois. The location along the river, next to Cave in Rock, and a short drive to Garden of the Gods cannot be beat. Additionally, Deena, our host, was quick to respond and answered our questions, making checking in and out easy.

Decorated to a “T” and incredibly clean and comfortable! Our family had a great time hiking in Southern IL and this location was fantastic! The host (Deena) was super to work with. You won’t be disappointed in this property!

Beautiful home! Slept four adults and two teenagers very comfortably. The home is so cozy with beautiful antiques but also squeaky clean. We loved the front porch and had our coffee there each morning. We took a walk each day down to the cave and also had breakfast at the State Lodge. Highly recommend. Be sure to ride the ferry! We will definitely stay again! Thank you!

I've been visiting S. Illinois for about 5 years, but usually stay in another spot. I'm a big fan of Shawnee National Forest - it's a peaceful setting, lots of hiking and outdoor activities, friendly people, and enough "off the grid" that I can relax, (but still have access to wifi!) I felt lucky that the Timber House was available for this trip. It's usually booked! Now I know why. Timber House made my usual getaway spot even better. It's a beautiful home, cozy and well decorated. It's well-appointed, with pretty much everything you need. The way the space is arranged is so nice. We were each able to have plenty of privacy, but still enjoy the shared living room. I was pleasantly surprised by how large it is, and how clean! I think it's the cleanest rental I've ever been in! Since I visit this part of the state a lot, I didn't really need much guidance, but Deena left lots of suggestions, and was very responsive via text. I'd higly recommend Timber House AND Cave-In-Rock!
