This was my first Airbnb experience renting from an agency rather than directly an owner. What a difference. We missed the warmth, local tips and personal touches we’ve so enjoyed in the past. The agency was quick with responses, but got pretty curt when we asked why we were being charged extra for towels when Airbnb has them on the list of included essentials. Kitchen didn’t even have salt and pepper, while in the past we’ve even enjoyed olive oil from the local grove and were offered it as a parting gift. The property was very reasonably priced and if the agency felt they wanted more money, they could’ve just included the cost of towels and heat instead of petty additional charges. I will take it as a learning experience and in the future make sure that I am dealing with an owner and never an agency.
