Millpool is airy and light. A characterful carriage perfect for singles or couples. Stunning views in a great village location. For those with mobility issues, Millpool has a NAS M3 rating, but you don't have to be in a wheelchair to enjoy Millpool, it is perfect for everyone. Although we don't offer breakfast, our usual welcome pack will be provided, which includes a starter pack of milk, tea, coffee, local apple juice and biscuits. Cornwall Tourism Awards 2022 silver winner for Accessibility. Millpool is cosy and warm all year round, with central heating provided by our biomass boiler, and an outside brazier for an open fire on warm evenings. There is a double bed, but we can change it for a single profiling bed on request. There is a fold-down single bed in the lounge, and curtains divide the living spaces. There is a spacious wet room. Millpool has its own small enclosed garden and terrace, with stunning views over the surrounding countryside. Railholiday have been offering holidays in railway carriages for 25 years now. In 2016 we won the country's top prize for sustainable tourism; Gold in the Visit England awards, in 2018 won the top prize of Winner of Winners at the Cornwall Tourism Awards and in 2020 the national iTravel Staycation Award. Although we are green to the core, there is no loss of comfort. Your energy comes from renewable sources, our gardens are tended to support year round pollinators, and you'll find some lovely details in the carriages that Dave has salvaged; mahogany shelves, cast iron brackets etc. We've also won awards for our wildlife friendly approach, and have had the accolade of best eco garden in South East Cornwall in bloom for several years. We have three other carriages in St Germans, each in their own independent space. There are another four awaiting restoration including a carriage we are working on at the moment that was built by GWR for Queen Victoria. It's a great place to stay for anyone with an interest in trains. We are happy to give tours of our unrestored carriages for anyone staying with us.

St Germans is a pretty village full of historic interest, with the country estate of Port Eliot on the doorstep, with its legendary summer festival. Port Eliot gardens are open year round (buy tickets at the Stables cafe). There is a restaurant, cafe, pub and an excellent village shop, as well as a stunning Norman church that was once the cathedral of Cornwall and hosts a fabulous Burne-Jones window. The railway is only 100 metres away, so perfect for public transport.
St Germans sits on the banks of the river Lynher, so the quay is a lovely place to sit and watch birds. We are four miles from the closest south coast beaches, which include dog-friendly Downderry and Seaton, Portwrinkle and the stunning Whitsand bay. Close to the moors as well as character fishing villages, St Germans is the perfect location for a holiday; un-touristy, but close to lots of places of interest.
The railway station is less than two minutes walk, so this is excellently situated for anyone coming by train. There is a private parking bay beside Millpool and we have a free to use Electric Vehicle charging point.

I'm a musician by trade but run Railholiday with husband Dave converting Victorian railway carriages along the Cornish main line. Green by nature, I love gardening, cycling, art, literature & live music. Because we have our own holiday accommodation we are very aware of how we like our property to be left and will always respect where we stay. Our main modes of travel are train, bike & foot. We do have a car, but it rarely crosses the Tamar.
