Bahia de Casares is renowned for its exclusive location. Based between mountain and sea, the residence was built on elevated land 200m from the beach. The urbanisation is not a holiday complex. It houses both long-term residents and holiday-makers. It’s a very friendly community welcoming all nationalities and people from all backgrounds. Although not gated, it’s a private community, and is therefore safe, quiet and tranquil.
On a practical note, if for example you prefer not to drive, there is a beautiful beach with a Chiringuito only 10 mins walk away, as well as a shop for basic provisions. The urbanisation is backed by landscaped gardens perched on a hill that includes a playground for families.

The nearest urban areas are the picturesque town of Estepona (a 15 minute drive) and even closer (5 mins drive), Sabinillas de San Luis, which meets all your holiday needs. There are shops and supermarkets; on certain days traditional markets selling a wide variety of typical Andalucian foods; plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars; a beach front paseo that begins at the foothill of the residence (perfect for walks and cycle rides), and is dotted with beach chiringuitos for the adults, and plenty of beach activities for children (in summer season there are also lifeguards, red cross, toilets and fresh water showers.) The beach is also the location for traditional fiestas at certain times of the year – expect a party.
For those who prefer more inland-based activities, the mountain range that flanks our area makes Bahia de Casares an ideal base for hiking, cycling, climbing and plunging into river pools. In fact, most people think of this part of Spain as a beach–centred holiday destination, and in the summer of course, it is, but with the mountain ranges running right up to the coast, the area is perfect for all year round adventuring and holiday fun.
From the Casares road leading inland, you can discover a multitude of white-washed traditional Andalucian villages (the famous Pueblo Blancos), some of them regarded as open air museums in themselves, offering insights into local crafts and traditions. The nearest village is Casares, a 20 minute drive through scenic mountain views, passing many ‘ventas’ - restaurants offering delicious homemade food – and then revealing itself as a very pretty Pueblo Blanco perched on the side of the mountain, with incredible views over the coast and the med. Sunset in Casares is one of the most beautiful scenes you could wish for on your holiday here.
And of course, for those who fancy travelling further afield, to the east we’re 1 hour away from the city of Malaga, and 40 mins from Marbella; to the west, Gibraltar is a 30 min drive, and the coast of Cadiz with golden sand beaches and surfing activities is 1 hour away. Perfect destinations for day trips. You could even take the ferry to Tangiers in Morocco, and still be back in the evening to relax on the patio and plan the next days adventure.
You will find that a week is not enough to discover the wonders of the area, and yet equally, if lounging by the beach is your thing there is no lack of sandy stretches nearby – there’s even someone to bring you a pina colada to your sunbed if things start getting a bit too stressful.

Parking on site is available; Cars can be hired quite reasonably at Malaga airport, but also locally should you wish to only hire one for a few days during your trip.
Taxis are located at the bottom of the residence, a 5 minute walk; Local taxi numbers will be provided in the welcome pack on arrival.
Buses heading in both directions (Malaga to Gibraltar/Algeciras) can be taken at the bus stops also located at the bottom of the residence.
