Thank you Danielle. We had a lovely time in Appledore. The house is large and the garden was great for meals at the table and the dogs to run around. The beds really do need replacing as they are all springs and very uncomfortable. The general standard and decoration of the house is not what one would hope for when spending such a large amount of money. We still had a lovely holiday as Appledore is such a lovely place and your recommendations and local information were really helpful.

We have had a great holiday at Rose Cottage. It is a quirky cottage with lots of interesting features and plenty of space that the children enjoyed exploring. It has everything you need and more! We enjoyed eating in the beautiful garden and it was a great space for the children to unwind. The location was ideal. A very short walk to everything. We couldn’t always get parking on the street so I think it useful to know that you sometimes have to park in the local car park, one of which is only round the corner. You can buy a tourist parking visa for £25 which gives you free parking in all the car parks (not just Appledore). Danielle, the owner, is an extremely kind and caring host who went out of her way to help us during our stay. Thank you for a great holiday!

Rose Cottage is an old property with lots of character and is in a prime location, just a short 1 min walk down to the quay. The large sitting room with fire is wonderful for families. The enclosed garden is equally great and a superb place to spend time when the weather is good. The twin rooms in the roof are great for kids with the double rooms being comfortable. Our children enjoyed looking at the large number curiosities, not a property for the lover of minimalist design. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped with fridge/ freezer, dishwasher, washer/ dryer and plenty cutlery/ crockery to cater for our needs. Danielle was very helpful and gave us plenty of space while being on hand if required. The property had a number of maintenance issues, and would benefit from some investment to resolve these. There is no parking but we managed to park easily enough in the carpark nearby. The tourist permit costs £25pw and allows you to park in any Torridge Car Park other than the Burrows. Overall we had a great time In Appledore. Rose Cottage's location certainly contributed to our fantastic family holiday.

Rose Cottage is a lovely, old fashioned, quirky cottage - with lots of interesting objet d’art to discover throughout your time there. I loved how it is tucked away from the street, making it a really private space. Danielle was really informative about the surrounding areas and was on hand for queries. The living space downstairs is really relaxing (two of us learnt how to play chess in the lounge!) The outdoor space is really valuable as, I should imagine, in Appledore having a big garden is a real treat. The location is amazing - a minute’s stroll down to the quay - with the wonderful local shop, John’s, a stone’s throw away. We had fantastic weather, having lots of hot beach days in Croyde and Saunton Sands, but also loved catching the 5 minute ferry across to Instow village and beach. The attics bedrooms were a little warm (it was a very hot week), but Danielle kindly provided us with a fan which certainly helped on the top floor. Appledore is a magical place with beautiful cottages, great restaurants and Sylvester’s fish and chips are scrumptious - the first time I think I have ever managed to eat a whole battered cod! Thanks Danielle for a truly wonderful week’s holiday with the family.
