Claire was super helpful no matter which situation. Before even arriving there she gave me more than clear instructions how to get there and what I'm expected to pay for public transport and alternatives since you have to cross the river to get there. When I finally did arrive she was very friendly and welcoming so I felt like home straight away. She would always ask if you need anything and she even cooked for me which I found very pleasant. All in all Claire felt like a Mom to me and she definetly has a heart of gold. Her property is as beautiful as the pictures show and all basic amenities are on site. If you ever feel you need a place away from all trouble of your daily life in beautiful nature with all basic needs then Claire's place is definetly the place to be. I stayed 1 week and enjoyed every single day. I feel recharged and I have a lot more clarity which I give credit to Claire as well.
It’s a decent little hut in a quaint neighborhood. Although mentioned in the listing, the bucket system for the shower and toilet was unexpected for me—my bad though. Unfortunately, I felt uncomfortable as Claire was a bit intrusive. She has strong beliefs and expects you to behave by them. It seemed I needed to tell her what I was doing, where I was going, etc. she described me as wild—which I assure you I was not. Also, I paid in advance for two plant ceremonies and a card reading. I didn’t want the card reading but felt pressured. She charged me 200 soles for it when 70 was mentioned via text. I felt taken advantage of. At one point she told me, “it feels like I’m robbing a baby”. Her behavior and the money stuff made me uncomfortable and after one day, I left. I went there because I’m a single woman traveling and thought it seemed safe. As a traveler, I was seeking freedom and adventure but this wasn’t the place. I felt trapped.
I was personally met by Clair at a nearby hotel and taken from there to Padre Cocha's lodging by boat. There I was accommodated by a traditional large malloca surrounded by a beautiful garden and plants of all kinds. There are different parts of the building and I stayed in the back of the big compact piece. The food was really nutritious and organic, which of course i really liked. Outside in the area of the garden, there were toilets, showers and sinks for washing hands etc. The water required is drawn from a source that is directly integrated into the construction of the garden, as there are no pump and flushing systems or similar in the area. I also took part in an ayahuasca ceremony that clair offers with a short card reading and talking about how to deal with the inner conflicts. It was very healing and enhanced, I recommend the ayahuasca to anyone who feels mentally and physically ready for it! All in all, I really enjoyed and appreciated my time there and I can recommend it to anyone who wants to live more simply, with love and in harmony with nature. Lots of light and love go out :D
In 2005 I got a strong spiritual call to leave my home in Australia and start working with medicinal plants of the Peruvian Amazon. In 2006 I started on this process, and learnt from different chamanes over the next 2 years. In 2007 I bought my house in the Amazon region and have lived here up to date. I enjoy meeting others and hearing their story. I care about my environment and wish to inspire others by living my life as well as I can. I studied and practice different artforms as meditation. I studied in Holland, Australia and New Zealand and then in Bolivia and Peru. This world is an amazing place!
