This beautifully designed open plan stone and glass house sits in a private reserve in the unique Magaliesberg conservation area, surrounded by indigenous bush with extraordinary views of the mountain. Generous indoor and outdoor living spaces, an indoor fireplace, a well equipped kitchen, braai and fire pit lend themselves to intimate gatherings, family breaks and retreats. A beautiful swimming dam and walks around and to the top of the mountain offer a unique and private bush experience. Our property is only around 90 minutes drive from Johannesburg or Tshwane, high up on the Magaliesberg mountain ridge in an indigenous highveld bush private reserve in the Magaliesberg biosphere. The house offers spectacular views of the mountain and bush. The open living area has a large fire place, dining table and seating area. There is a good collection of board games for adults and children as well as books. The living area opens out onto a large patio with an outdoor dining table seating up to fourteen people, a drinks fridge with a braai area and a large fire pit. The well stocked kitchen has Smeg and Meile appliances and a high quality expresso coffee machine and microwave. We also provide basic supplies (salt, pepper, olive oil and spices). There is also a herb garden you are free to make use of. Downstairs is a game area with a table tennis table and a small pool table. There are two ensuite bedrooms upstairs, and one ensuite and three further bedrooms downstairs. The three ensuite bedrooms have open gas fires and all open onto private decks. All bathrooms have large baths and showers. The swimming dam is only fifty metres from the house with a dining area, and plenty of space (and shade when necessary) for picnics or just lounging around with a book. There is also a rubber dingy and floating cushions for enjoying the water. On weekends, we often offer discounts for 3 night stays. Please inquire. The house sits in over 60 hectares of indigenous bush. There are beautiful hikes of varying distance on the property from a few minutes to up to two hours. The walks take you through a rare protea forest, a deciduous wood and, on the top of the mountain, the remnants of forts built by Boer commandoes in the South African War. We have seen many buck, jackals, civet, and a wide variety of birds on our walks. We are close to popular mountain biking routes in and around Breedt's Nek and Hekpoort, and 15km from Magaliesburg town. There is a 4km sand road between the R24 and the entrance and then a further 500m of sand road on the property to get to the house. A few stretches of the public road are not in good condition, and a higher clearance car is preferable, particularly if it has been raining. The sand road on the property is in good condition. The house has an inverter system which provides power to the house during load shedding for four hours or more, depending on usage. This is not a suitable venue for those who wish to visit Sun City which is 2 hours away.
