Kehila, Pidula/Kihelkonna · 整套民居 · 3室4床1.0卫 · 可住6人 · Välja, the foresters thached house
Most skillfully renovated. You find everything you need and more for cooking, and the big stoves guarantee crackling warmth and comfort, if the weather is cool. All three bedrooms are lovingly furnished, light and airy.
Dom to miejsce z duszą, książkami, pamiątkami... Jeśli ktoś oczekuje miejsca odludnego, spokojnego, w otoczeniu zieleni to polecamy!!!
The Välja farm is situated in the quiet village of Kehila in western Saaremaa. The location is very good for reaching the most beautiful places of the west coast like Undva cliff, Ninase peninsula and Vilsandi national park. The house itself is old, lovingly renovated and very cosy. Be prepared though, that there may be other guests living in the sauna house. The tap water is rusty, but besides that, totally usable. The farm has a pretty kitchen garden with herbs and flowers you are happy to use. Children love the legos and other toys of the shed in the yard. All in all, the Välja farm is an excellent choice for nature lovers and travellers looking for peace and quiet.
Välja is a great place to be in summer with family and friends! We enjoyed cycling to Pidula to catch our own trout for dinner and had coffee and cake in Pidula parc, to the pebble beach and the lovely 'hidden lake'...more things to do but also suerb just enjoying company of each other and books and beer!
If you don’t feel like taking the walk through the fragrant pine forests, there are six to seven bikes at your disposal to roam the countryside with. In the abandoned quarry of Jaagarahu you’ll find a quiet fresh water lake right out of a Hokusai woodprint. On rainy days we can recommend a visit to the Mikhli Farm Museum, an immaculately kept and preserved cluster of buildings and farming apparel, complete with a small museum showing the farmers’ life as of the middle of the 18th century. Or you might enjoy a sauna at home at Välja. The adjacent little green house “Talvikke” (Yellowhammer) has also been completely renovated and provides, next to the sauna and a bathroom, accommodation at its best for at least three people. The other two buildings, more rustic but also freshly made over and clean, hold childrens’ sleeping places, four to five in all. In winter, enjoy the Milky Way and the long dark and silent evenings with or without snow in a cozy, well-heated home or pour yourself a drink in the spacious bar. One of the ceiling beams was secured from driftwood of the motor sailer “Lydia Koidula” which sank close to Suuriku pank in 1951. Lydia Koidula is the most famous poet of Estonia.
In order to buy all you need to make your stay comfortable, it is not necessary to go to the capital Kuressaare. There is a small, well-stocked supermarket in Kihelkonna, approx. 6 km away, with friendly staff and a lot of local color. In Mustjala, there is a new supermarket with a greater array of goods, but much less atmosphere. There are hardly any restaurants as yet, but a very decent place to eat is in Lümanda. Also near Välja, in Pidula, a Finnish Table is offered on Sundays. Please book in advance.
And if you feel like shopping, dining well or just sitting in a café , watching the town folks go by, there is always Kuressaare 35 km away.
