It comes with the benefit of gardens on two sides from which to make the most of the sun and surrounding rural idyll. It is located down a quiet no through lane at the end of which a public footpath takes you to the beautiful South West Coast Path. Whilst the garden is perfect for al fresco dining the Dolphin Inn is a short walk away and serves delicious home cooked food. Beautiful cottage, perfect for the South West Coast Path. Really high standard of decor and furnishings and so cosy. We really didn’t want to leave.
We had the best time at the Anchorage, a really stunning property - even better than what you see in the pictures. The house has spacious rooms and all the amenities you could wish for making it perfect for a family stay. The village is is also fantastic, you can run to the beach, short walk to the pub and its in a great location to drive to any site you fancy. Highly recommended.
The Anchorage is a delightful house and exceeded our expectations. It is beautifully decorated and was very comfortable for five of us. It is extremely well equipped and all the things you need on a coastal holiday were there. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed our walks to the beach (about 30mins) and the access to the coastal path. Kingston is a quiet village and it has a lovely pub. We would definitely stay there again.
Pretty little cottage .....Clean , spacious , nice log fire & well located within the village .....children's play park less than 4 minutes walk and pub is about 3 minutes so all you need for Kingston really. We parked down the road which was pretty easy . Just need to plan unpacking as it's a single track road so you may need to move the car if needed.
The wide sandy beach of Wonwell is within walking distance or Bigbury on Sea which is approximately 5 miles away offers plenty of opportunities for safe fun particularly if you’ve got children in tow. It is dotted with rock pools, so there’s plenty of creepy-crawly entertainment for budding marine biologists.
While this beach is popular with families, there is also a wide and varied selection of water sports available to visitors who prefer their holidays to feature a little adrenaline rush. If you want to try something different from the usual bodyboarding or surfing then windsurfing and kite-surfing are gaining popularity here, with hire facilities located right on the beach. To give you peace of mind, there are lifeguards present at Bigbury on Sea beach during May to September and the beach also has a first-aid room. Dogs are allowed on the beach although they are restricted to certain areas during the summer.
For golf lovers, Bigbury Golf Club is a 10 minute drive away. It is a beautiful 6000 yard, par 70 cliff-top course with stunning views to Dartmoor, Burgh Island and Bantham Beach. People who visit this famously friendly, cliff-top golf course near Kingsbridge in Devon will never forget the experience. Or there is Thurlestone Golf Club, 20 minutes by car.
Thurlestone is one of the most beautiful courses in the South West of England. Running along the stunning coastline of Bigbury Bay, the course is a mix of links and cliff-top terrain with the latter providing breath-taking views of the legendary Thurlestone Rock to the East and the beautiful Avon Estuary and Burgh Island to the West.
The nearest market town is Modbury which has an assortment of shops including local butchers, delis and bakery as does Kingsbridge a 10 minute drive away. Salcombe is a lovely little village selling all sorts of souvenirs, clothing and trinkets is half an hour and the town of Dartmouth is a must! Known as ‘The Jewel of the South Hams,’ it has ancient narrow streets that house boutique shops, art galleries & delicatessens. A cobbled market place features colourful stalls and a Farmers market supplying local produce that is used in the local restaurants, pubs & cafes.
