It was really enjoyable to stay at a property with more land and not in view of other homes. We were able to enjoy the views and nature sitting out on the deck. The staircase outside separating the two floors was never an issue and the separation worked out really well for us. The location on the island worked well for us, easy drive to Hilo and access to main roads.

Amazing house and property close to Akaka Falls and Onomea Bay! (and scenic 4-mile drive). Perfect place to call home during a Hawaii vacation with private waterfall on property (we took a dip while there) and amazing views of the hillsides, tropical trees, and even ocean. The house was beautifully decorated with Polynesian decorations and there is ornate custom tile work in the bathrooms. The wrap around lanai was amazing for soaking in the sights and sounds of nature (you can hear the waterfall, birds, and frogs from the house). There was a good stocking of plates, pots, pans, etc. for enjoying meals at the house. Stop at Mr. Ed's Bakery on the way (highly recommended). The two bedrooms downstairs were spacious, each had amazing private bathrooms, and private doors out to the beautiful views. This house is so unique and in such a great location and Carl was so responsive at check-in. This house is a great deal and we highly recommend it for couples, families, and friends!

Our stay at the octagonal house was truly magical! Nestled amidst nature's embrace, this charming retreat offered us a unique and unforgettable experience. The views are amazing and encountered a mama wild pigs and her babies. The waterfall is definitely an adventure and worth the trek out...but it is a definitely a challenging hike. We didn't repel down to the water, but enjoyed the peaceful view. The kitchen amenities are well appointed and make for easy meal prep! Overall, our hosts took excellent care of us, ensuring that our stay was comfortable and memorable. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway surrounded by natural beauty, this octagonal house is the perfect choice. We can't wait to return!
