My husband and I stayed at Heavenly Hakalau over 5 nights in April for my birthday. It was our first visit to the Big Island and as architects, we wanted to stay in a place capturing the special relationship between Hawaii Island's beauty and the built form. This home was exactly that. Flora and fauna welcome you from the well kept foot path into the home and then expands eastward with ocean views of the Hamakua Coast from the lanai, which is perfect for sunrises. The home was exactly as described, well kept and stocked with thoughtful touches. Perhaps most of all, Tom and Joe made the entire process--from booking through our stay, seamless, unobtrusive and enjoyable. From an informative welcome message, useful recommendations and advice during our stay and even a small birthday cake (thanks Tom:), they embodied the true Aloha spirit in sharing their home with us. As we drove in the driveway, my wife and I were amazed at the property. It was gorgeous. Inside was very clean and welcoming. The beds were comfortable. The outdoor area was spectacular. We had our morning coffee outside looking at the ocean. We also had dinner out there and played cards. Later at night we laid out in the lounge chairs stargazing. The hosts were wonderful. Wish we could have stayed here longer.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay!! Great views of the ocean from amazing deck and yard. Highly recommend to anyone looking to stay near the Hilo area. Would love to come back one day!!

Heavenly Hakalau was so beyond our expectations! It was not only beautiful, but very serene and meditative also! We are looking forward to our next visit!
