This unique, historic and stunning mid-century modern compound was originally constructed in 1948 for one of the biggest radio stars of the era as a private refuge for him and his family. Newly refreshed in 2023, the property has been upgraded to the modern era while at the same time its architectural origins have been respected and preserved. From the light fixtures and furnishings to the artwork and patio furniture, the property has been extensively decorated with exquisite vintage pieces from the owners’ private collection in harmony with its original design. They invite you to indulge in this special mid-century modern home. Take a nap amongst the swaying palms, float in the pool while while marveling the majesty of the San Jacinto mountains and enjoy a cocktail at the outdoor bar with your loved ones. PROPERTY DETAILS: Overview: 5 real bedrooms and 6 bathrooms (each bedroom has its own private en-suite full bathroom and there is an additional half bath off of the bar), indoor/outdoor bar and lounge, gourmet kitchen, salt water pool with in-ground spa, 2 private patios each with its own outdoor shower and one with an outdoor fireplace, fountain, off-street parking for 2, built in outdoor BBQ. Details: Main House: The main house includes all of the interior common areas of the property as well as 1 bedroom. *Gourmet kitchen with a Viking Range, Miele dishwasher, 42" build in Dacor refrigerator, quartz countertops and Heath tile backsplash (Note - Heath was founded in 1948, the same year as 436 Olancha!). The kitchen is appointed with a variety of tools and small appliances as well as dishes and cutlery. *The kitchen opens up to an outdoor dining area for 10 *Living room with 55” OLED television and double-sided fireplace (the other end opens to the bar and lounge) (note - the fireplace is currently used for decorative purposes only). The television has access to Apple TV, Netflix and Hulu. *Indoor/outdoor bar and dining room: the outside bar has seating for 4, the indoor bar has seating for 4, and the dining table has seating for 6. NOTE - the dining table can be expanded to seat 10, and there are 4 additional chairs in the closet of the adjoining half bathroom. The bar is fully appointed with the owners’ collection of vintage barware. *There is an additional half bath (sink, toilet and closet) off of the bar and dining room. *Each room has its own ductless mini-split AC/heater unit which can be adjusted individually for the comfort of each occupant. *One bedroom with queen bed and private en-suite bathroom (shower). Back house: The back house consists of 4 individual bedroom suites. Each bedroom has: (i) its own private bathroom (details below), (ii) its own private entrance (directly to the pool area/courtyard) and (iii) its own ductless mini-split AC/heater unit which can be adjusted individually for the comfort of each occupant. *Bedroom closest to the pool - queen bedroom. Bathroom has shower/tub combo. *Bedroom off of the courtyard - California king bedroom. Bathroom has shower. This bedroom additionally has its own private patio which includes a private outdoor shower, seating for 3 and a vintage outdoor fireplace. *Next bedroom off of courtyard - 2 twin beds. Bathroom has shower. This bedroom additionally has its own private patio which includes a private outdoor shower and dining/seating for 4. *Bedroom closest to fountain - queen bedroom. Bathroom has shower/tub combo. The Grounds *The entire property is walled and gated for your security and absolute privacy. *Spectacular mountain views are visible from nearly every vantage point. *Saltwater pool with spa. The pool can be heated with a gas heater for an additional fee. The pool contains benches in the spa, the deep end and the shallow end so that guests have a wide variety of sun, water temperature and view options. *Outdoor/indoor bar (see description above) as well as a communal outdoor dining area for 10 as well as another outdoor dining area for 4. *10 Lounge chairs around the pool *A spacious courtyard between the structures *A gorgeous fountain on the north side of the property which can be heard throughout the property. It provides additional seating in the shade during the hot summer months. * Built-in DCS BBQ (no propane tank to fill!). *Mesh wifi network blanketing the entire property with high speed internet. Furnishings *All of the mattresses and linens are new throughout the entire property *Nearly all furniture, light fixtures and art is vintage to the era of the home. They include pieces from the likes of George Nelson, Herman Miller, Hans Wegner, Steelcase, Walter Lamb, Brown Jordan, Modernica, Arthur Umanoff and Artemide, just to name a few, as well as custom one-of-a-kind works from the 1950’s and 60’s which have been collected from some of Palm Spring’s most famous estates and hotels. 2024 RATES (*PALM SPRINGS TAXES NOT INCLUDED IN RATES BELOW*. This place has got to be one of the most desirable air bnbs in Palm Springs. Incredibly central location with privacy and the perfect set up for a larger group. Aaron is incredibly responsive and welcoming.
Wonderful stay! Place was easy to find and gorgeous house to fit 9-10 comfortably. The grounds were gorgeous and nice and quiet. Aaron is a perfect host and very communicative. He was very flexible with our check in/check out times too which was nice. Great weekend getaway!
We did a corporate connect and Aaron’s place was perfect! Everyone was impressed by the property and that it was extremely posh. We will definitely book this property again!

Our stay was just wonderful! Aaron was super helpful and it was great coordinating with him. The house was exactly how it looked in the pictures. Aaron was proactive and sent us all the information in advance. A day before our arrival, he gave a welcome call and sent all the instructions. On our arrival he made sure there was someone to give us a walk through of the property and during our stay he made sure we had everything we needed + complete privacy. We would surely come back and would highly recommend this property!

If Hollywood history is of interest of you, the immediate neighborhoods of Deepwell proper (formerly home to Liberace, William Holden, Jerry Lewis, Oscar Meyer, Carmen Miranda and Loretta Young) and the Mesa (currently home to Suzanne Somers and Barry Manilow and formerly home to Sonny Bono, Clark Gable, Robert Wagner and Rita Hayworth) are easily explored by foot.
