My place is located in the midst of a scenic Durian tree plantation next to the mighty Mekong River and is harmoniously integrated into a typical Mekong-style Vietnamese village community, which still maintains much of its original charm. The lodge can be reached easily by foot or bicycle from the centre of Cai Be city - that is the famous Floating Market - by simply crossing a small tributary to the Mekong River by ferry (see photo on the opposite page). The lodge is therefore pleasantly removed from the noise and bustle of the provincial city of Cai Be, while simultaneously being close enough for a quick impromptu outing from the lodge at will. The main house of the property, surrounded by scenic golf course fairways, combines a casual reception area and indoor air-conditioned dining area. The outdoor dining area is located in front of the main house, with an unobstructed view of the passing village life. The guest cottages are idyllically "hidden" among the Durian trees, seamlessly blended into their natural setting. The cottages are close enough to the river to receive the cooling, refreshing and energising air from the Mekong River, while being far enough away to be undisturbed by the rumbling noise of the diesel engines of the passing merchant ships on the river.
