Amazing location and airb&b, poule table was a big plus and the swimming pool was great!

Gemma is absolutely wonderful and comes to the house every morning to see if all is well. She couldn't be more attentive or friendly. The courtyard is lovely for outdoor meals, and the dining room very grand and lovely for candlelit evening meals on windy days. There is space and peace here to unwind. The pool is really great and yes, it is a bit of a walk downhill, but hardly difficult if you are fit on your feet. This isn't a great place to stay with young children, but we took three of our teenagers and it was great for them, although one of the bedrooms can only be accessed via another one and this could cause privacy issues. Although you have the house exclusively, you only have the ground floor. It is airy and spacious but the top floor is roped off and unused. I would also advise taking a couple of battery operated smoke alarms. All of the windows are barred by ancient metal grids, attractive to look at but completely unmoveable should a fire break out. If it were to happen in the dining room and block off access to the only entrance, the main doors into the courtyard, then there would be no possibility of escape. I only mention this because last year we stayed in a beautiful old chateaux in France, Domaine du Rodier. In October of last year a fire broke out upstairs and the house was gutted. Fortunately noone was staying in it at the time, but this does rather emphasise the fact that old places have old wiring and things can go wrong. The windows at Domaine du Rodier weren't barred, but as mentioned, there is only one way out of the Guasconi villa and that is via the main doors. You won't find any information about places to visit or local amenities in the house, so do your homework before you go if you want to shop at local markets, visit local places. We had a car and so had a day in Florence, an afternoon and an evening in San Gimignano, a morning in Lucca (fabulous little amphitheatre and museum there), and a lovely day visiting various villages in the Chianti region. As mentioned before the lake at the bottom of Via Panzano, a 5 minute drive from the villa, Lago di Balancino (a great bar and restaurant, kayak hire, a pebbly beach and some lovely freshwater swimming). We had a great time and arrived home on Saturday evening feeling refreshed for the academic year ahead.

Cette villa a beaucoup de charme mais il ne faut pas s’attendre à une prestation de luxe car elle date de 1512. Gemma est une hôtesse attentionnée. Nous reviendrions avec plaisir.

An incredible old Villa in the country. If you‘re looking for a magical experience in the Tuscan Hills, we can only recommend this estate. It is old, you can see that, but this is what it‘s all about. A short walk down to the huge pool already feels like an exciting experience. We stayed there for a week and almost never left the estate, as there was so much to see and enjoy. The sanitary facilities and kitchen are not the most modern, but everything works well and is in place. Gemma was a great and uncomplicated host, a lovely person that made us feel very welcome in the country ❤️

What am amazing location! Staying here really is an experience and Gemma’s hospitality, kindness and great communication is a bonus. With easy access to the motorway, you step back in time as you make this 15th century villa your home. It is rural, with gorgeous views and quiet, but also very clean throughout the massive spaces. Our kids (9 & 11) absolutely loved the private pool (which is set down a few layers of garden from the villa due to the town council’s restrictions to keep the authenticity of this historic home). We spent 3 of our 6 days lounging by the pool and relaxing in the house. We loved playing billiards or drinking coffee and wine in the patio or under the chestnut tree. The pizza night with Antonio was a highlight. Keep in mind this is a 15th century villa not a hotel, so expect a small, tired kitchen and perhaps a mousy friend going about their business at night. The WiFi is fine in the lounge, which is totally acceptable as this helped us all unplug. We absolutely recommend this memorable and unique location.
