Just 900 metres way Azenhas do Mar beach is situated in one of the most colourful valleys of Sintra's mountain range, Azenhas do Mar is a charming tourist destination. The white small typical houses almost look like they were sculpted in the rock, sliding down the hill into a marvellous garden, providing an unforgettable sight, with the enchanting blue of the ocean, the bright white of the houses and the green of the fertile vegetation.
Azenhas do Mar is a privileged quiet village, with natural swimming pools moulded in the rocks endowing gorgeous views.
There are many places to explore in the vicinity: Cabo da Roca (the most westerly point of continental Europe), several typical villages (Colares, Almoçageme, Gouveia, Fontanelas). Close by there are excellent restaurants and markets where you can buy locally produced and great quality food (fruit, veg, bread, cakes, honey, wine and fresh fish and seafood).

Azenhas do Mar, is closest around 900 metres away hidden between cliffs with a natural salt-water pool; Aguda, 2,3 km; Praia das Maçãs, 2,8 km, Magoito, 6,2 km, also a good place to walk; Praia Grande, a 4,9 km; Praia da Adraga, 6,8 km; Praia da Ursa, 10,3 km, Guincho, 16,9 km, well-known for its excellent Windsurf and Kitesurf conditions; Praia de Ribeira de Ilhas, 20,9 km, in Ericeira, classified as a World Surf Reserve.
We are also only 8 km from the town of Sintra a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 25km to the glamorous and bustling coastal town and marina of Cascais, and 32km from Lisbon.
Sintra offers wonderful landscapes with stunning colours, various historical monuments, architecture and charming shops for shopping. Some monuments to visit in Sintra:
• National Palace of Sintra - Built during the Muslim rule of the Iberian Peninsula, while it was modified under the reign of King Dinis, John I and Manuel I, it has kept its silhouette from the mid-sixteenth century.
• Pena Palace - The Park and the Pena Palace, implanted in the Sintra hills are the epitome of Romanticism in nineteenth century Portugal, with architectural references to Manueline and Moorish influences.
