These shower facilities are pictured above, newly remodeled, and extremely nice! The hot water never ends, the water pressure is great, the area is clean and well lit, and very spacious for men and women. The boat is surrounded by large windows to enjoy the views. Each has darkening shades and screens that you can open to enjoy the beautiful lake breezes. Both sliding doors have screens that create a wonderful breeze as well.
They were great at communicating but seemed surprised when we showed up at check in. Walking up to the house boat there was an unpleasant smell that you don’t get used to. You get some relief going inside but there is standing water in the bathroom and by the doors (carpet) so it’s still very musty inside. I was disappointed all around but thought that I could make the best of it. Every time you use the bathroom that side of the boat will smell like everyone’s pee that ever peed there. The first morning I went to make coffee and the kuerig water tank looked like a fish tank. So I went out for coffee but there also isn’t much to do in Lorain so that was a challenge. The boat was cute and a fun idea but this was not worth the money that I spent. I think maybe this could have been a fun trip for drunk people but it wasn’t a nice anniversary get away with my partner.
We stayed here for our 6th anniversary. It was extremely clean and very quiet with a beautiful view of Lake Erie, the lighthouse and the skyline. The weather being so nice made it even more nicer with being able to sit on the deck. The interior is very spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable. Great place to stay!!! We also chartered Gary’s Dog Pound Charter for a great time fishing for walleye on Lake Erie, which is always a GREAT time as well!! We will definitely be back!
Had such a nice stay at “The Dog House”. It was very clean and so neat! I can’t wait to go back when it’s warmer, to enjoy the upper deck and back and front decks!
My husband and I try to find unique places to stay for our anniversary every year and this houseboat did not disappoint. The hosts were absolutely the most responsive hosts, super quick replies, and even put out champagne and chocolates for our celebration. It was such a nice surprise since we had a later check in (due to our child haha). They have an earlier check in and a later check out than I typically see which was so great! The beds were comfy, there was plenty of seating, and the patio was beautiful. The community felt safe, since it’s behind a locked gate, and it felt pretty secluded since it’s at the last pier. The sunrise in the morning was beautiful and quiet, just what we needed. The coffee was great and the space was actually bigger than I imagined. The hosts walked us through all the necessary instructions for the heat, water, and keys, etc. I wish we could have stayed longer but we definitely plan on returning. We couldn’t have asked for a better anniversary weekend!
