River Trail Retreat is located in Turangi; close to Tongariro National Park; tons of fishing opportunities within walking distance; and many other activities on your doorstep. This is the ideal spot for you and your mates, or your family, to relax and unwind from your hectic daily life. Set back from the road and down a shared driveway you are surrounded by native trees and birdlife. Enjoy the peace and quiet at River Trail Retreat – which provides direct access to the Tongariro River Trail and prime fishing spots! Our bach sleeps up to six guests comfortably in three bedrooms. The master bedroom and bedroom 2, both have queen beds in them. Bedroom 3 has 2 single beds. The lounge boasts a lovely wood burner fire as well as a heat pump - keeping you warm and cozy in the winter and cool in the summer. The lounge opens out onto a large sunny deck - great for outdoor dining. Sink into the couch, switch on the TV and chill out in the evening or on a wet day. The open plan dining/kitchen areas flow through to the dining table where you can gather around and enjoy a meal. A good-sized bathroom with both a shower and a bath, completes this comfortable home. With an array of fishing spots only a short stroll away, pack your rod with direct access to the Tongariro River Trail at the rear of the property! River Trail Retreat is just a 10-minute walk to Turangi’s town centre. With a number of cafes, takeaways and restaurants you’ll be able to enjoy a nice meal with your friends and family. New World supermarket is handy for purchasing your essential supplies. Biking, hot pools, the National Trout Centre and many outdoor experiences are nearby, so you have plenty to choose from. Some of these are: White Water River Rafting, swimming in the lake or at the local pools, indoor rock wall climbing and Tongariro National Park are just some of the options for you and your family.

We were in the area to hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Overall, it was a great location for that trek! It was an easy 20 minute drive to the shuttle parking lot. The location was also great for groceries and gathering other necessities. We liked how big the place was, and the fireplace and amount of wood that was left for us to use! The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cooking tools. There was little to no dish soap when we arrived. There is a "one trash bag" rule, which was frustrating for a 3 day stay where we were cooking every day. We could have paid for trash bags ourselves, if it came to that. The bathroom was very clean upon arrival. Upon check-in, we learned of a "one towel per person rule" which we enforced, even though there were towels on every bed. Felt a little unnecessary. The bedrooms were well laid out. The comforters and blankets were dirty (saw lots of hairs and even some makeup stains). All-in-all great location and nice house! could have been cleaner
If you are here to fish, just book it!!! Amazing fishing just steps away. The house was clean and well stocked. We loved it!
Nous avons passé un agréable séjour, dans cet endroit très calme. La proximité du Parc de Tongariro nous a permis de faire plusieurs randonnées dont l'alpine crossing. Pour cela la maison est très bien située. Nous avons quelques petites remarques sur les poêles (frying pans) qui seraient à renouveler, mais à part cela tout était parfait.

The house is set back from the street, it is a rear section.
The local supermarket and shopping centre and about a 10 minute walk away. It is a short walk to the river, playground and reserve. The streets are very pleasant tree lined streets in a quiet neighbourhood.

This area is great for walking and cycling. The local supermarket is just 1.1km away - a short car ride or a 13 minute walk. Lots of walkways and cycleways on your doorstep to explore the local area.
The Tongariro River Trail is accessable at a number of starting points and you have direct access from our section to the river. The river is great fun for all - fishing; swimming; or to explore the riverbed with your children.

My husband and I have managed a private camp sleeping up to 250 people, this included everything from cooking all the meals to planning and managing holiday programmes for children. We've also managed a Top 10 Holiday Park and more recently managed 63 holiday homes. We have now gone out on our own and manage 18 Airbnb homes and a motel.
