Our 18th century fisherman's cottage is the ideal place to relax and unwind. It is situated in a quaint and very pretty row of just 6 pastel painted cottages with a lovely enclosed back garden looking onto the pastures beyond and the historic manor dwelling of Invergellie House. Whether you wish to kick back and do nothing or explore the East Neuk and all it has to offer, you will be welcome in our little family retreat for as long as you like: our cosy, coastal retreat. Burnside is our own little family holiday cottage which we are more than happy to share when we are not there. It was bought in 2017 and completely renovated to a modern standard though there are a few quirks to this 18th century building. The hot water tank pressure had to be prioritised so the shower is great, the bath is ok but the kitchen sink pressure is pretty low so please be patient: you will though always have plenty hot water! There is a staircase to the upstairs bedroom but please note it is quite steep. There is a lovely 'feel' about the place and we just love the peace and quiet, especially hearing the church clock: there has been a church in Kilrenny since 1243 and the current building still has the 15th century clock tower.
Very cute little cottage - perfect situation to visit coastal Fife. Need a car as quite remote and nice weather would help you enjoy the outside space as cottage is definitely bijou. Very well equipped kitchen. Had a lovely time here.
My daughter and I had a lovely relaxing stay. The cottage is charming and the village is a wee gem. Great for walking the dog in the Commons behind the house and an easy walk down to the shore. I'd love to come back again!
A wonderful traditional cottage - sympathetically restored and beautifully appointed. Spotless through out with real attention to detail. Dorothy was so welcoming and flexible with check-in times. I couldn't have wished for a better place for my East Neuk adventure. Perfect location for exploring on foot and further afield by car. Easy parking. Highly recommended.
Burnside Cottage is a beautiful place to stay, it’s got loads of character and is situated in a lovely place. The house was clean and a beautiful home made Easter cake really was such a thoughtful, and much enjoyed, touch. Lots of lovely walks nearby and Kilrenny is so peaceful. A short drive from local villages and St Andrews is only 15 minute drive away. Dorothy was a fantastic host, she was friendly and helpful and very responsive. We would highly recommend Burnside Cottage and Dorothy. Thank you Dorothy!
Kilrenny is a very quiet hamlet which is the perfect place to enjoy the East Neuk coast and all it has to offer, the countryside on your doorstep and everything beyond.
It can be used as a base for exploring, enjoying the local beach activities or to just enjoy some peace and quiet with only the sound of the church clock chiming.
A car is recommended but guests can access buses going in both directions from the village directly.
There is a car park on The Common which is free of charge and is just a few minutes the cottage.
There are various taxi firms which are very good and very reliable.
