You will have an unforgettable experience staying on Allora, a 41 ft. sailboat, docked at the Perry Hotel and Marine - a luxury marina. PLEASE VIEW VIDEO BEFORE BOOKING: search "Allora walk through" on youtube Wake up to a freshly brewed cup of coffee and sit in the cockpit watching the sun rise across the water. Swim in the 2 heated, salt water pools and try out one of the many first class restaurants on site. Be sure to take advantage of the free shuttle to old town Key West. PLEASE READ ALL BELOW BEFORE BOOKING. If you think of Allora as more of a glamping trip than a floating hotel you are setting your expectations correctly! Plan on utilizing the marina bathrooms for showers and the toilet. The Marina bathrooms are cleaned hourly, private and nice. We provide a toiletry basket with fresh towels, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion for you to use. The toilet on board has a VERY SMALL holding tank. This tank is pumped out weekly and therefore, is for emergency, tiny pee, usage only. Absolutely no toilet paper, or feminine products in the toilet - it will clog and that is not fun. While Allora is a good sized sailboat; she is a sailboat. She is full of what some people would call obstacles. We recommend that our guests be quite confident in their nimbleness. For example, when boarding the boat the dock will move; because it floats. We do have a sturdy step stool on the dock, however there is a big step depending on the tide. When entering the boat you have to climb down a 6 foot step ladder. The boat may not be suitable for all guests. There is NOT a freezer present. There is a refrigerator, but no freezer. This is an ocean going boat and all the machinery and plumbing is located directly beneath the living room floor. There is a large diesel engine in there and the diesel fuel tanks. Some guests have noticed smells. Most have not. If you are sensitive to these possibilities then please reconsider booking. We keep her very clean and comfortable, but she does show her age at times. The exterior finish is worn and there are scratches on the windows and wood panels. LEAKS WHEN IT RAINS! The hatch above the dining table drips in heavy rains. During heavy rains, you will see drips and they will land on the table. You will want to place a hand towel beneath the drips. The hatch above the bathroom drips in heavy rains. You will see drips and they will land on the floor. A towel on the floor will soak this up. Sleeping: The bedroom is a full size bed. Half of the bed has an overhang that big people might not fit under. I am 5'9" and slept on that side no problem for 10 months. My husband preferred the more open side of the bed which is roomier. There is air conditioning in the living room area of the boat. The bedroom door needs to remain open so the A/C will cool the sleeping area as well. Laundry: Please utilize the marina facilities - coin operated machines. There is a NOT smart TV with loads of DVDs to watch. On deck there is a cockpit area with two comfortable benches. Again, everything on this boat is over 35 years old and many parts show their age. But, she is clean and comfy and the cockpit is a great place to enjoy the marina. This is a boat for an unforgettable experience. Our family has made incredible memories on Allora. You can search on youtube: "10 months sailing the Caribbean on Allora" for video clips of our adventures.
Heather was great, had never been on a sailboat before and she would immediately get back to me when I had questions. It would have been nice if the boat were closer to Key West but I knew what I was getting into when I booked it. Loved sitting on the deck late nite reading a book while taking in the warm breeze. It was also nice to have access to the resort pools and amenities. All in all a great trip.
We found Heather a great host who'd go an extra mile to make you feel welcome and at home. Clear directions, check-in instructions and even local recommendations were provided, and small gifts were waiting for us at the location. That included cold beer, much appreciated after our 40 mile bike ride to Key West :-). For those unfamiliar with marine amenities and appliances (like us), hints and tips were posted throughout the boat, which was very helpful. The boat was very clean, extremely cozy and included everything a traveler guest needs, and then some. Again, local guides and literature were provided, which we found very helpful during our short stay in KW. The stay certainly exceeded our expectations and we would prefer it over any hotel stay hands down (OK, we are full time RVers, so there's that :-)). We truly hope to stay aboard Allora some more and will be bothering Heather again when we're in KW next winter / spring.
Wow.. The Host was very responsive. This was one new wonderful experience for me and my fiancee. We had the best time of our Trip. I highly recommend it. We got so see some sea creatures we have never seen before. The rocking back and forth made as sleep 😴💤 so good. Would definitely do it again ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We had the best time staying on the boat. We stay on a boat a lot where we live so we felt right at home. Heather was great at communicating and was very accommodating.
Allora is located in Perry Hotel and Marina and is a 3 minute walk from a great bar and multiple pools.
If you are looking to charter a boat there are a number of fishing, snorkeling, scuba, and sailing charter boats at the marina.
Most of the other boats on this dock are privately owned yachts.
This marina is located in Stock Island which is about 5 miles from downtown Key West. It is not in Old Town. There is a complimentary shuttle that runs every hour (from 9am to 8pm) to get downtown and back. You can also take a ride share or go on a motivated bike ride.
Park in front of the boat.
Take the shuttle from the Hotel lobby to downtown Key West.
