Sitting in a quiet spot, close to the quintessential Somerset village of Somerton, this is a great base for exploring the area. The conversion has retained plenty of the building’s original charm as a former coach house, with beautiful interiors and lots of space for a group of friends or family to relax. The garden is enclosed – ideal for kids and your canine companion – and there’s plenty for them to do nearby too. Inside this charming, single-storey property, the living room has a gorgeous, vaulted ceiling, a wood burner for warming up chilly evenings – an ideal place for your up to snooze – and French doors that lead out to the patio for you to enjoy warmer evenings. Both bedrooms can be made up as super-kings or twins and you can sleep two more guests on the sofa bed in the living room if you want to invite more friends on holiday. The house is close to the historic village of Somerton with cafes, pubs and landmarks worth visiting. Somerset has a fantastic footpath network and there are lots of pretty walks close to the village along the River Cary or through local woodlands. Otherwise, why not head to the Somerset levels, where you’ll find black peaty soils in contrast to the limestone hills a bit further north in the Mendip Hills AONB? Glastonbury Tor, 7 miles, makes a fascinating place to visit and if you fancy some retail therapy, Clarks Village shopping outlet is 6.5 miles away and Sherborne 14 miles away. If you want to give the dogs a run on the beach, the house is 24 miles from the coast at Burnham-on-Sea. You can also take your canine companions to Cheddar Gorge and Caves (20.5 miles away) and wander around the park at the National Trust property Montacure House (12 miles).
