The Southwest costal path is a highlight of this area, passing through the heart of Looe, walkers can head east or west taking in part of its 630-mile route, the longest National Trail in Britain.
The Southwest Coast Path starts at Minehead in Somerset and runs along the part of the Somerset Bristol Channel coast, across North Devon, right round Cornwall, then along the South Devon and Dorset coasts of Poole Harbour.
Looe
Actually, two towns, East and West Looe. Looe has a maze of winding narrow streets to explore. The town is filled with cafes, restaurants, gift shops plus a range of pubs of all kinds in which to enjoy a drink and soak up the atmosphere.
The main beach, in East Looe, offers safe swimming and sunbathing. At West Looe, the beach gives way to rock pools, full of interesting marine life to discover.
Liskeard
Liskeard is an ancient marketplace town. Visitors will enjoy browsing its independent shops, many of which retain their original Victorian shop fronts. There is a good range of cafes, restaurants, and pubs in the town. The museum and information centre on Pike Street has copies of Liskeard Heritage trail for those interested in exploring the heritage of the area.
Polperro
Polperro is undoubtedly one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall. Packed tightly into a steep valley, the quaint colour-washed cottages and bustling streets offer surprises at every turn. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes to visit as well as a Museum of Smuggling. The coastline is spectacular here and Polperro can be reached on foot from Looe via the costal path or by bus.

Parking
The Captain’s House has 4 en-suite double rooms, with onsite parking. At the rear of the property on the first-floor level, the stairs split to go left, for guest accommodation, and right for owners’ residence. Paid parking is also available in the centre of town, and there is a large carpark in West Looe.
Train
Looe train station is approx 100 Yards from the entrance of the property. The walk is up Shutta (which is on a slight incline), so if you do have lots of luggage, please let us know and we will be happy to help escort you to the premises.

Looe train line operates between Looe and Liskeard. Liskeard then can provide you access to both the cities of Plymouth and London, as well as provide access deeper into Cornwall – reaching as far as Penzance, on the South coast.
The Looe line travels along the East Looe River, starting through the heavy woodland valley until the valley opens out as the river nears the sea, and the train nears Looe. The two miles between Sandplace and Looe offer particularly lovely views, great for Birdwatching too.
Bus
Looe is heavily connected by bus to Saltash, Plymouth, Polperro as well as many more destinations. I recommend that if you wish to use the bus system that you download the Go Cornwall Bus app to make your journey easier. Track your bus and get a live countdown to see when it will arrive, buy tickets from your mobile, plan journeys and see the latest service updates.
The closest bus station to The Captain’s House can be found on Station Road, located just before Looe town centre. It's approximately 500yds in distance.
