The neighborhood is a melting pot of cultures. It's in transition, steadily improving and growing over the past decade. You'll see relics from times past
(old houses, hole-in-the-wall restaurants), as well as new stores and strip malls. The area is usually quiet and full of families. You'll likely see children playing outside.
The street is full of 4-plexes, some of which are rentals with long-term tenants and some of which are AirBnBs.
A 5-minute drive will get you to Planet Fitness, Aldi, Walmart, Dollar Tree, local restaurants, & many fast food places.

I highly recommend a car!
While there are stores and fast food restaurants walking distance to the apartment, including Subway, Walmart, Aldi's, The Dollar Tree, Arby's, and a few Mexican restaurants (15-20 minute walk), please be warned that Texans drive everywhere! There are lots of wide open spaces, very little trees (compared to other climates), and a SUPER hot sun 9 months out of the year- all of which can make walking very uncomfortable. If you're visiting in the fall or winter, you might be able to walk comfortably to the places I mentioned, but I recommend having the option of driving.
Even though there are some stores in walking distance, you'll want a car to see the main attractions Killeen has to offer, like Ft. Cavazos, downtown festivals, and neighborhood parks & trails.
I also highly recommend driving to nearby Salado or Belton to experience the charm of smaller Texas towns!
