Find quiet and seclusion in this unique mountain hideaway at 4000 feet elevation. Get away from the crowds and experience a side of Hawaii few get to see amidst an old lava flow. This is a true glamping experience. We have transformed 2 sheds into tiny homes. This unique property is quiet, tranquil, and relaxing with the most amazing night sky. The nearest small town is about a 12 minute drive away. Shed 1 has a full size bed and sitting storage bench. Shed 2 has a shower, composting toilet, vanity sink, and kitchen island counter. The only power is a small battery to power the water pump for the shower and a few small LED lights around the bathroom and kitchenette. We have battery and solar powered lights and lanterns around the exterior of the sheds and each shed is equipped with portable lights you can use on the inside. The shower is heated by an on demand propane water heater. The toilet is a composting toilet. The water for washing with is filtered rain water via a catchment system.

I absolutely loved my stay! It was my 21 birthday and the host was kind enough to leave me some chocolates as a gift. They were so amazingly sweet and helpful. On our last night the gate code wasn’t working and they were kind enough to create a new one for us. Our host told us about amazing things to do that were in close proximity and gave us very clean instructions on everything we needed to know before heading to Hawai’i. I would love to go back again and stay in one of their other Airbnbs! A lot of the Airbnbs I looked at were way out of our budget and their Airbnb stood out to me, it was very unique and beautiful and well within my budget.
Great experience! Everything was clean and simple. We were able to enjoy a good night’s sleep and the morning views with our own prepared breakfast. The nights were chilly, but with some extra clothing that was a positive adventure as well. Ikaika was very friendly and helpful, yet never intrusive during our stay. Overall, we recommend staying at this very economical and unique place. The view is awesome and the experience is something you will not find elsewhere.

Hawaiian Ocean View Estates is America's largest planned urban development with over 10,000 one acre parcels. It's very sparsely populated with less than 5,000 residents. Most of the land is raw lava rock and indigenous 'ohi'a trees found nowhere else on earth. Feral goats patrol the slopes while the i'o or the indigenous Hawaiian hawk and the pueo or indigenous Hawaiian owl patrol the skies. The roads are in good shape and easy to get around on but they extend for miles so a car is absolutely necessary for getting around.
You'll definitely need a rental car to get to the property and to get from the property to all the natural wonders of the Big Island.
