Brimming with character, this traditional fisherman’s cottage is the perfect base for exploring Appledore and beyond. With exposed beams, sash windows, an original stone fireplace and uneven ceilings retained, the property has been lovingly updated to accommodate modern family life. Spend the day exploring Appledore’s colourful streets and quaint shops or relaxing on one of the local sandy beaches before returning to the patio courtyard for an al fresco drink with a view. Cook up a storm in the compact yet well-equipped kitchen before taking to the fabulous lounge/diner for the evening. With a table at one end and a cosy sofa area at the other complete with a striking stone fireplace, wood burner and comfortable leather sofas, this room is perfect for those quiet nights in. This property’s character continues upstairs into the bedrooms, which feature exposed beams, slanted ceilings and calming neutral decor with a nautical edge. Two of them are on the first floor, the third, a twin room, is found up steep, cottage-style stairs to the second floor. Outside, a pretty courtyard decorated with colourful pots and plants is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine as the sun goes down. The estuary village of Appledore boasts an array of independent shops, bistros, cafes and galleries together with the slower pace of life of times gone by. In the summer months, catch the ferry across the Torridge estuary to the village of Instow where there is a pretty beach, yacht club and further shops and eateries. Water sports enthusiasts will be in their element at nearby Westward Ho! (3 miles), while more family fun can be enjoyed at The BIG Sheep (4 miles) and The Milky Way (11 miles).
