This 2 bed worked perfectly for the 5 of us. The location is great, very close to Heavenly. The place was clean, comfortable, and good value. Would happily stay again.
A very roomie place. Great quiet location 5min or less from down town. I’d stay here again.
Lake Tahoe is California’s masterpiece. The basin of glistening waters and palatial mountains was formed out of calamitous volcanic activity and glacial works of art millions of years ago, giving rise to the astounding tourist attraction of today. Divided into North Lake Tahoe and South Lake Tahoe with equal parts gorgeous, Tahoe keeps locals and visitors occupied all year round. Ski resorts, warm-weather recreation, casinos, reputable nightlife venues, fantastic food, and perfect access to Reno, Carson City, and Sacramento all make Lake Tahoe the ultimate vacation.
The City
South Lake Tahoe lies on the shore of North America’s largest alpine lake, making way for watersports like boating, fishing, and skiing. There are bike and hiking trails wrapped around the lake, with restaurants, bars, clubs, and shopping areas located in the city.
As far as getting around, please check for pricing in case anything has changed.
As per USNews:
The best way to get around Lake Tahoe is by car. Because there are more than 70 miles of shoreline at just the lake alone, you'll find that having your own set of wheels will be most convenient. You can rent a car at the Reno/Tahoe International Airport (RNO) about 50 miles northeast of Tahoe City. To get from the airport to your accommodations in Tahoe, you can rent a car, take a cab (ride-hailing services, Uber and Lyft, also operate in the area) or hop on a shuttle. The South Tahoe Airporter offers frequent trips between the Reno airport and six resorts in South Lake Tahoe for about $30 per person one way.
Car
Because of Lake Tahoe's size and somewhat limited public transportation, you'll find that having a car will allow for better exploration. To get a real feel for the region, take a ride along Highway 89 (also marked Highway 50 and Highway 28 in some sections). This 72-mile-long road runs all the way around the lake. Sure, you'll spend a little extra on gas, but the views will be well worth it. If you're visiting in winter, note that some sections of Highway 89 might be closed due to snow. Keep an eye on the weather report before heading out. The California Department of Transportation offers an up-to-date report on road conditions.
Public Transportation
Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit (TART) operates frequent bus routes on Lake Tahoe's northern and western shores. between Tahoma and Incline Village. It also runs between Lake Tahoe and Truckee, which is north of the lake. Additionally, TART offers on-demand, curb-to-curb service in Truckee and North Lake Tahoe. Buses run at varying timetables and operating hours daily, depending on the route. Bus fares are free; Truckee Dial-a-Ride (the on-demand service) costs $6 per one way trip.
The Tahoe Transportation District offers service on the south shore. Come summertime, TTD offers bus service from Incline Village to Sand Harbor. Fares vary based on the route, but generally cost between $0 and $4 for a one-way ride. Lake Link also runs in a select section of the south shore and is free for riders.
Shuttle
A few shuttles run in the area, such as Discover Lake Tahoe (fares depend on the company and the destination). However, many shuttles are reserved for ferrying people to and from the airport, so aren't a great option for getting around during your trip.
Boat
The seasonal Lake Tahoe Water Taxi operates a regular route on the south shore between the Round Hill Pines Marina and the Camp Richardson Marina. Round-trip tickets cost $25 for adults; round-trip fare for kids costs $15.
On Foot or By Bike
Many of the towns that dot Lake Tahoe's shores are easy to explore on foot or by bike. The surrounding Sierra Nevada Mountains are also chock-full of hiking trails. Make sure to pack comfortable shoes (and snow boots!). Check out Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition's interactive map for more information on Lake Tahoe's walking and biking trails.
