The house is the only single family house on the street, next to an old river that is now a canal - Right in the center of the City. The area is very safe and the neighbors super friendly but you will see some of the adjacent houses are run down unfortunately. We are leading the charge on improving the neighborhood and the City is working to install a beautiful riverwalk and large park right outside the door but will take a few years to come to fruition.
The area was home to leather factories which utilized the canal in their tanning process. The factories have since been converted to apartments and offices, but industry is still strong in the neighborhood.
The house is over 100 years old, the floors aren't all level and the ceiling in the living room is only 75 inches so tall people beware! We have fully renovated the interior to create a beautiful and comfortable space, farmhouse chic so everything is new and clean. We put up an 8 foot fence around the spacious backyard and installed a beautiful new patio to enjoy the space and create privacy.
Although not the prettiest street the location couldn't be more perfect. Steps from anything you could possibly need, you are literally downtown, or a 20 minute walk to downtown Salem (I walk it all the time! - or 5 minute drive to downtown Salem). Just a few minutes to the highway about 30 minutes to Logan Airport or Boston.
We have worked hard to bring the house into the modern era and create all the creature comforts anyone needs in a home despite the neighborhood.

Off street parking for up to 4 vehicles in the driveway. Downtown Salem is about a mile away, a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive. Downtown Peabody is a block away with anything you could want or need just a few minutes walk.
The highway and two large malls are a 5 minute drive. Logan Airport and Boston are a 30 minute drive or a 30 minute train ride out of Salem.
