This charming property, situated just 7.5 miles from Newcastle, is perfect for small families or couples – and your canine companion, of course! Sleeping three over two cosy bedrooms, this open-plan cottage is an opportunity to get away from busy life yet still have lots of fun things to do on your doorstep. Head off for walkies around the beautiful Gibside Estate (3 miles) or head off to Ryhope Beach (23 miles) where your pup can wander along the pebble beach along the cliffs. The property, which is situated on 1.5 acres of land that you’re welcome to explore, is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen area has everything you need to cook up a storm, while comfortable sofas in the lounge area welcome you to sink back after a long day and watch TV, the dog curled up at your feet. Gaze out of the full-length arched windows that let in lots of light or head to the shared courtyard where you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine as the sun goes down. At bedtime, snuggle between the sheets among tranquil, neutral decor and wake up refreshed and ready for a day of adventure. Set off on a family adventure on the Tanfield Railway (3.5 miles) where you can see the world’s oldest railway bridge. Saltwell Park (6.5 miles) is a fine example of a Victorian park and is ideal for walks as well as boating on the lake in the summer months that little ones will love. If you have an older child with you, they will love sniffing out clues on the Huntfun Newcastle trail that starts at Grey’s Monument (8 miles); it gives you a chance to see some of the unmissable attractions in the city including the Millennium Bridge and the cathedral.
