Bursting with character and located in a perfectly picturesque setting, this barn conversion is one of four within the grounds offering a fabulous base for families who wish to explore the vibrant farmland and majestic trails of the Brecon Beacons National Parks. While away your days deep in the Black Mountains climbing to the peaks of the Sugar Loaf, the Blorenge and the Skirrid in search of rare wildlife and the finest viewpoints and you’ll fall immediately in love with this part of the country. Once you step inside the open-plan living space you’ll feel immediately at home with sumptuous sofas and armchairs circled around the warming wood burner to create a cosy social hub for all the family. Here you can put your feet up and watch a film, or throw open the double doors to read a book with a gentle breeze. With a backdrop of an exposed stone wall, the dining table has a country feel with natural light pouring in through the windows and terracotta-hued tiles on the floor. When it’s time for tea, the humble kitchen is an enjoyable space to cook a meal for the family. The double boasts grand exposed beams lining the ceilings and a comfortable mattress to ensure a restful night’s sleep. The other two bedrooms are twins with space for children to unpack and play during their stay. A bathroom and a separate shower room offer a place to refresh after a long day out exploring, and in addition, there is a shared laundry room on-site if any clothes need washing. Through the French doors in the living space, you can access the enclosed garden to cook up a feast on the BBQ and enjoy a pretty sunset. Guests are also welcome to use the shared indoor swimming pool (open between 2 weeks before Easter and the end of the October half-term), the blissful hot tub and the family-friendly games room. Located just 3 miles from Abergavenny, you can head into the market town to pick up fresh produce to cook back at your home-from-home, snacks for a picnic or dine out for a celebratory feast without travelling far. Once you’re stocked up and ready for an adventure, Abergavenny is a gateway to many meandering walking routes up high into the mountains and low into valleys with a lovely, hilly walk beside the canal leading to Crickhowell (9 miles). Find tranquillity by the water at Llandegfedd Reservoir (13 miles) where you can hire stand up paddleboards, canoes and kayaks at the watersports centre to get active, or simply sit and soak up the calming atmosphere listening out for the sounds of birds nesting in the trees and the water gently rippling in the breeze.
