Amherst County · 整套小木屋 · 1室0床1.0卫 · 可住6人 · Quiet and beautiful cabin w/view
Relax with the whole family or some friends at this rugged and picturesque location in the Tobacco Row Mountains north of Lynchburg! Enjoy the solitude and recharge at this mountain escape—take a break and take in the views! This is an off-grid cabin with solar electricity and no running water. There are rain barrels for gray water purposes but you must bring sufficient drinking and cooking water. You must also pack in your own food and bedding. You have access to the entire 10x20 lofted cabin except for one locked room in the corner which is the owner’s private area. There are two sleeping lofts, one side has two double beds and sleeps 4 adults, the other side has a queen bed and sleeps 2 adults. The bathroom is an outhouse as pictured and is a pit style toilet. The other open side of the outhouse is a future outdoor shower. There are solar lights that guide you from the cabin to the outhouse and string lights inside the outhouse as well. There are outdoor cushions in the wooden chest beyond the fire pit, and some camp chairs either inside the cabin or in the lean-to. Please return all chairs/cushions to their original locations during checkout. **safety note and waiver of liability—be advised that access to both sleeping lofts is via ladder only. Please look closely at the pictures to determine if you or any guest will safely be able to navigate the ladders. The steps in front of the cabin also can be slippery and there is a 6’ dropoff right in front of the cabin so please—watch your step! Booking a reservation constitutes your acceptance of liability and acts a ‘hold harmless’ waiver for us, the host. CAUTION: high winds can occur on the mountain, be prepared to anchor camp chairs, cushions, and anything lightweight. There is also a slack line, Ninja line, and yellow swing for your use. Please use caution and at your own risk.
If your target is a retreat in a heightened elevation with a view, this place surely offers that! The sunset here is a moving painting. Lots of great pictures taken with our family. The cabin is still under ongoing work and the owners made sure to let us know this and for the fair price, nothing beats that. Right now it is the only one in that mountain and soon to have neighbors as we passed excavations and constructions going to the area, so it was a great time to have had it to ourselves. Just be sure to bring plenty of water not just for drinking but for washing up as well. In addition, bring a set of air beds as the sleeping area can be dusty too. Don’t forget to bring tick/mosquitoes spray as it is a woodland. Over all we got what we came for, a good rest and a serene, spectacular view! Gotta add to that, a tour around the area, if you’re into fishing/hiking you can’t go wrong with how close this place is to lakes and James River.
Spectacular view, very private. It is a funky dwelling and not the cleanest, but it's a shed in the woods so, as described. Great fire pit, nice to have the solar power. I did see a baby rattlesnake in the outhouse so, watch out for those! I think the property needs a little TLC but overall I really loved it there, and would stay again.
We had a great time! Host was extremely responsive to any questions I had. Very private and fun for our kid and dogs. Space is well thought out and we would definitely consider coming back for a weekend getaway!
Though this cabin is “sparse” in amenities many would be used to, what this area offers in peace and tranquility more than makes up for it. If you need to experience civilization, lynchburg is a short drive away. Overall this place is high on my list to come back to. Thank you Megan!!
There are two permanent residences on the driveway (Mountain Crest Lane). The closest neighbor is approximately 1/3 mile away so it is very quiet.
Parking is open at the top of the hill, just off the access road. Please do not block the road, there are occasionally land owners uphill of our property that want to get to their parcels.
Parking is available for 3-4 full size vehicles with two different access trails down to the cabin which is about a 120' hike. It is steep--around a 10-20% grade depending on where you are. There are loose rocks as well so watch your step!
At the cabin, there is a dropoff right in front of the porch stairs so please go slow and watch children carefully.
