This was a great location for a weekend getaway. The property suited our needs but I would say it was lacking in utilities. The property states it's for 4 people and the beds fit the needs however the dining facilities do not there is no dining table only a kitchen table which only has 2 seats. basic utilities are missing - bottle opener, tin opener, garlic press, mugs. the property was lovely, clean and comfortable just basics could do with being upgraded to warrant the extra star.. we made it work and we had a lovely stay 🙂
The historic spa town of Matlock offers a number of attractions for the whole family. There are many places of interest within a short drive, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Arkwright's Mill, Gulliver's Kingdom, Heights of Abraham, Matlock Farm Park and the Crich Tramway Museum to name a few. There are also many shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants to enjoy in and around Matlock. Cycling and walking are two of the most popular ways to take in the scenery of the Derbyshire Dales and there are many routes, trails and paths. Middle Cottage is a beautifully presented home on the edge of the outstanding Peak District National Park. The cottage is in walking distance of everything the area has to offer, pubs, bars, shops and Matlock Bath.
Matlock Once famed for its hydro and spa treatments, Matlock's central location, scenic surroundings and public transport links make it a popular base for exploring the Peak District and Derbyshire. Pioneering industrialist John Smedley developed the attractive market town as a fashionable spa in the 19th century, and his legacy lives on in buildings such as Smedley's Hydro (now the offices of Derbyshire County Council) and Gothic-style Riber Castle. His name is also familiar to customers of world-renowned knitwear manufacturers John Smedley at nearby Lea Bridge, who export high-quality menswear and womens wear across the globe. There are plenty of things to do in Matlock. In the heart of Matlock sits Hall Leys Park with its boating lake, riverside walks, tennis courts and skateboard park. In Matlock town centre there are pretty streets full of small, independent shops, and a host of cafés, pubs and restaurants in which to relax. To the outside of the cottage there is lovely flagstone patio area. A secure small courtyard to store your bikes.
