Ich hatte einen wirklich schönen Aufenthalt! Alle waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Unterkunft ist etwas versteckt, aber da man kostenlos Fahrräder ausleihen kann, ist man trotzdem super schnell am Strand. Die Bungalows sind schön und sauber.

We spent a little over a week in the bungalow and really enjoyed our stay. The bungalow is situated in a small and very quiet village. The beach is just a quick 10 minute bike ride away & the bikes are provided by the hosts. We had a lot of fun exploring the village by bike :) The bungalow was cleaned every day and looked just like it does in the pictures! The included breakfast was wonderful - we had coffee, fresh juices and fruit as well as eggs & pancakes every day. There is the option to have dinner for $10 per person (including desert) and after trying it the first night we didn’t want to eat somewhere else because it was that good! We would love to come again and highly recommend to stay there :)

Staying at Julia and Yusufu's place was a delight thanks to our attentive hosts. At check in, we were greeted with fresh coconuts and this level of hospitality was continued throughout our stay. The accomodation is nestled in a local village a short way from Utende. There isn't much around except for local houses, coconut trees and cows which makes it an ideal place to relax and feel you're getting a glimpse into the real Mafia Island. Utende is only a short bike ride (or Tuk Tuk/Boda Boda) away and we loved riding into town each day. The accomodation is generous in size, very comfortable (not too hot!) and super clean. The only thing to note is that there was no stove or cooking utensils (as depicted in the photos). We were happy enough paying the 10 USD per person to have our meals cooked each night (they were delicious) so we didn't ask about having a stove brought to the room so I'm not sure if we could've cooked for ourselves if desired. The breakfast each morning was also great.

Julia and Yusufu’s place was so homey! We were staying at Big Blu but were tired of camping so looked for accommodation within the marina park where we could have privacy and more of a local vibe. Their place was perfect! Yusufu’s friends and family were so welcoming and made us feel right at home. We wished we could speak more Swahili but even with the language barrier, we were able to connect. The food was great, there’s a hot shower, and the place is super clean. They even had fresh picked flowers on our bed everyday! So cute!! The location is off the main street so it’s a bit hard to locate yourself, but they are more than accommodating and will help with transport if you need. We drove motorbikes and only got lost twice lol. Hope to stay again when they build out the rest of the home stay.
