THE CURATED PROPERTY COMPANY PRESENTS: This large country house in Ashdown Forest is the perfect stay for extended family get togethers or large groups with children. Situated in an AONB, it has a large garden with views over the rolling countryside, outside dining, BBQ and firepit. Of the Arts and Crafts style, we have recently renovated to expose the beautiful character of the house, styled with Farrow&Ball colour design, SkinFlint lighting, Sisal carpeting and boutique bathrooms throughout. This large Hatch House was a pedestrian gateway to Ashdown Forest. Built over 3 periods the original part features large, exposed beams. The large wooden panel downstairs ‘hall’ leads up into a large staircase and mezzanine 360-gallery with library giving a grand and spacious feel. There are 6 bedrooms, spacious enough to add in extra mattress for children so families can share rooms. We have 2 extra single floor mattress with bedding meaning the house can space a total of 17 guests Bed space and bedding totals 17 spaces. Please enquire about the possibility of a couple of extra guest spaces. The large kitchen is great for cooking and dining, with an AGA and large circular table made from pitch pine church pews. With high ceilings and tall windows and patio doors you can look out over the large garden and rolling countryside. The large ‘snug’ living room with Large TV also looks out to the garden and countryside with summer sunset views.

We had a lovely stay and great communication with Lucy before and after.
This beautiful house was the absolute perfect base for my team - so much so, that when the time for leaving came, nobody wanted to! Clean, grand but homely, well stocked with wood for those delicious fires, with a brilliant boot room to ensure no dirt was taken into the house (especially by the little ones of our party), and beautifully decorated, the house exceeded expectations. Especially with it being so adjacent to a real-life farm and so many places to explore. Lucy was a deeply kind host on levels unexpected. Speedy communications, and her willingness to answer any and all questions - even ones in hindsight didn't need to be asked! - made the stay flow gorgeously. And on hearing why my team and I were staying at the house, proved herself to be endlessly generous in ensuring the house was everything we needed and then some. Am heartily glad that of all the houses in the area, it was Lucy's that became our home for that weekend, will now be forever a part of our history.
We stayed at Lucy‘s over a weekend with four families. The house was stunning with really great surroundings and beautiful walks possible right from the doorstep. Loved the boot room (superb post muddy walks) and that the house was shoe free. A bonus was having the farm shop a stone throw away with lots of local produce and cakes freshly made. The house was great for what we needed with plenty of opportunities to break out for the kids and adults alike. I can confirm as per other reviews, fantastic for hide and seek:) Beware of the pond in the garden, the dog took a plunge! The garden is immense and well kept. The house offers warmth and character and being able to cosy round the fireplaces was lovely. Thanks for the great hospitality and accommodating our flexible c/i and c/o!
We absolutely loved the place. Lucy and Chris were fantastic hosts. The main areas of the living room and kitchen were great, beautiful fire place. The kitchen was my favourite. We had 2.5 bathrooms which was completely fine in the end- as we were worried about that! The setting was stunning Main issue was heating- the boiler stopped working for some reason, so we were quite cold during the day, but we managed to get this to work eventually after speaking to the hosts. This didn't change our experience as a whole- we still enjoyed the venue and had a wonderful time making memories. Thank you for having us

The property is the original dwelling of the former estate of Plaw Hatch. The closest villages are Forest Row to the east, which is more like a small town, and Sharpthorne to the west, both about 2 miles away. In the heart or Ashdown Forest, this location is semi rural and also close to many amenities.
Located at the of intersecting of 2 major lay lines, Forest Row is a centre of natural health and spiritual practices, with Rudolf Steiner, Jehova’s Witness and Scientologist centres close by.
There is direct access to Plaw Hatch Farm and farm shop and barista coffe barn with home-made cakes from the property. The farm shop sells a wide selection of its own biodynamic produce including raw milk, and other local organic breads, cheeses, wines and beers, fruit and veg and other treats.
You can walk directly into the forest through the farm (no dogs allowed this way) or by crossing the road from the farm entrance.
Please note the road is not suitable for walking along so the pubs 2 miles away in the nearest villages would be a drive to, or Forest Row village can be accessed through the forest paths about a 2.5 mile walk.
