So bad that we had to leave and find somewhere else to stay. The access to the boat was a slippery bank covered with stinging nettles and make shift wooden steps which we slipped down. The boat was having work done on it which hadn’t been communicated to us beforehand. The roof terrace was blocked off and there were building materials lying around. The sheets were dirty or stained and there was open food left in the fridge.

There are very few places in the world where you can stay on a houseboat with punters and crew rowing by. The boat is located next to a park and is just a few minutes walk to the city center. If you get a chance to book James' place, don't even think about it. Just do it. (The only small caveat is that there is no flush toilet, only a compost one. You will be greener than green to make up for the "different" experience.)

It was quite magical staying on the boat. The location was peaceful but so central and fantastic for walking our dog. We had fun watching the morning rowers and the bank holiday revellers on Jesus Green. Nice touches in terms of tea, coffee etc. Wonderful wood burner. We will come again! Thank you James for your helpful tips, especially about parking.

We had a lovely stay at the boat, the location was peaceful and it felt like a true Cambridge experience to be by the water and to see birds and rowers at the river in the early morning.
