Grazie grazie grazie a tutto torneremo sicuramente
Starting from the 11th century, the maps of the territory that represent the western area of Perugia, along the communication route for Città della Pieve, report the presence of two distinct fortifications, Sansoste and Sant'Andrea delle Fratte. The castle at the foot of Mount Lacugnano perhaps dates back to the year 1000, inhabited by the local feudal lord, of which few ruins now remain. In 1235, Emperor Frederick II camped in Sansoste upon his return from the Crusades, with the intention of besieging Perugia. The church of San Sisto del Monte di Lacugnano existed on the back of via Pievaiola since 1337, of which some vestiges remain today, such as a bell from 1549 and a fresco from 1300, depicting the Madonna and Child, San Sisto and Santa Catherine of Siena whose presence was unknown as it was covered by a layer of plaster. Currently the restored work, shown on canvas, is located inside the 14th century church. In recent times, the history of San Sisto has been linked to the Perugina factory since it was transferred from the Perugia Fontivegge area in 1963. Furthermore, in Sant'Andrea delle Fratte there is the public hospital of the city of Perugia, the largest in the Umbria region, with the adjoining Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Perugia. San Sisto is known in the Perugia area for the Rassegna delle Sagre, an event held in September that welcomes the peculiarities and gastronomy of the main summer festivals that take place in the province of Perugia. Equally well known is the Carnival Parade, with costumes and floats, which takes place every year in February.
All main services and public transport can also be reached on foot in a few minutes. The Perugia-Silvestrini railway station is about 1.5 km away. Urban and extra-urban bus stops, 800 m, as well as supermarkets. The Pian di Massiano Minimetrò station is 3.5 km away. and can also be reached on foot via the Perugia-Lago Trasimeno cycle/pedestrian path.
