Nestled deep in the South Wales Valleys on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, this Grade II-listed cottage sits within the grounds of the former Nantyglo Ironworks. With a wealth of original features, two bedrooms and an enclosed garden, it’s this is a great base for a dog-friendly break with family or friends. Once used as a barn, the cottage’s open-plan living space features exposed stone and original ironwork supports that cleverly elegantly divide the spaceroom. Adding a contemporary twist, on-trend furnishings make this a perfect place for everyone to gather; there’s with space to relax with before in front of the Smart TV. The expansive ground floor opens to a dining suite for four, with mood lighting and a modern kitchen complete with all the self-catering essentials. A solid wooden staircase leads to the spacious landing that features a comfortable armchair, making it a peaceful spot to read and enjoy some quiet time. From here you can access two bedrooms; a double and a twin room each with stunning views of the rolling hills around, both rooms share a smart bathroom with a rainwater shower. In front of the cottage is a tranquil garden to enjoy the views and fresh air from, while the rear of the property features an enclosed and furnished patio; the ideal spot to let the dogs relax safely. The host village of Nantyglo stands at the head of the Ebbw-Fach valley that’s surrounded by a rugged landscape and well served by a range of shops. The area is steeped in history; on your doorstep alone is an early 19th-century Roundhouse Tower; one of two constructed by the ironmaster as a retreat from for workers who rioted when threatened with a wage-cut. Explore the Brecon Beacons National Park just two miles away, and at its northern edge, the town of Brecon (20 miles) which is famed for its Georgian architecture and waterside walks. Closer to home, the market town of Abergavenny (ten miles) is a paradise for foodies, while golfers can tee off at the West Monmouthshire Golf Club, less than two miles away.
