This was a great location for our family Christmas celebration. Lots of rooms so everyone could spread out. Plenty of parking. Decor was delightful and the house was tastefully decorated for Christmas. The location was beautiful with lots of green space around the house. The kitchen was well-equipped and very functional. Michael was a great host. He contacted me during the stay to make sure we had all that we needed. Michael also offered some flexibility on check in and check out times to help optimize our travel plans. We really enjoyed our stay here!

This historic farmhouse “RETREAT” is certainly furnished to accommodate your troops and entertain them in style, but I may have had better luck sleeping in a tent on a camp bed. For me the word “retreat” when spending $700+ per night means a certain quality level and experience in bedding, maintenance and cleanliness, which Axios Farms did not deliver. Not one of our family members slept well during our 4 nights here. A simple investment in hotel quality mattresses (such as Sealy), hypo-allergenic pillows and 100% cotton bedding would help. Also turn the pink room headboard to the East wall to avoid it facing the open servants staircase descending to the ground floor. The house was relatively quiet, but I would have felt safer if it had been surrounded by trees and a gate to protect the property all alone on a hill above Falls Road. Axios Farms has cleaning and maintenance issues to address. At this price point, those problems should have been resolved before I arrived.

My entire family cannot wait to stay again at Michael’s. From initial communication everything was seamless. The house is better than the pictures. The grounds surrounding the house are amazing. The kids all loved running around the yard and visiting the chickens as often as possible. The house was clean and extremely tidy yet still felt like a home and not an Airbnb. The kitchen was perfect for cooking and had everything we needed. Michael went above and beyond with a welcome basket and well stocked fridge with drinks and eggs. There were clear instructions for the house (which I love) and everything was in perfect order. All the beds were extremely comfortable and well spaced out rooms. I can’t say enough about how great the entire experience was for me and my whole family. Thank you Michael so much!

My family and I traveled to Baltimore to say goodbye to our Father / Grandfather in a wonderful memorial service in Baltimore where he grew up. The experience turned out great. The farmhouse and game-barn at Michael’s property are characterized by extremely beautiful historical architecture with modern touches and all hi-touch areas (e.g., bathrooms, kitchens, etc.) are fully up to date and immaculate. It’s a very warm and inviting place and the game barn makes it fun. We hosted a catered family reunion at the farmhouse after the church service. The house was perfect with places all over for small groups to congregate and catch up but big enough for people to move around and enjoy the catering. We will definitely be returning.

The owner is as kind, thoughtful and organized as his house is carefully considered, charming, comfortable and super functional. To say, "I wish they had a 7 star rating system as this place earns all 7 in every category" is not hyperbolic, it's just true. When renting a relatively new place, one expects a few kinks or wrinkles to be ironed out. Not here. Careful attention to detail, simple but robust systems and a love place making created the perfect re-union spot for 3 couples, 5 children and a bachelor...literally the moment we opened the door. Our crew is a bit persnickety, being architects and designers, but we're also down to earth and appreciate the details that move the needle and matter. From the game barn, to the ultra comfy beds, to the cook ware, to the gorgeous bathrooms and linens and soaps and olive oils, this is the kind of place that you'll wish you booked longer. We did. 7 Stars y'all! Book and enjoy farm fresh eggs +++. Thx Michael, awesome spot.
