Gunpowder Cabin is a peaceful getaway set on 9+ wooded acres and a private drive in Northern Maryland, just an hour from Baltimore. With a half mile of hiking trails, and over 600 feet of frontage on Octoraro Creek, there are numerous options for taking in the natural beauty: warming up by our two firepits, lounging in a hammock, taking a dip in the river, or fishing for trout from the shoreline. A secluded retreat that feels remote but is just moments from the civilization you came to escape. You'll have full access to the 9+ acres of wooded property and easy access to the river. The property does rise up to around 140 feet in elevation, so there are hills and stairs to climbs as you explore. THIS IS NOT FLAT GROUND. Neighbors are not visible from a large portion of the property, and it feels very secluded. Features: -Patio fire pit directly out back -2nd fire pit near the river -Easy stone stair access to the river in 2 locations -1/2 mile of well-kept hiking trails -Overlook bench on the river -Hammock riverside -Wooden bridge -Wooden boardwalk over natural spring -multiple staircases created from natural materials to make the property more accessible -Around 700 feet of creek frontage right on the property Our location is tucked behind a suburban subdivision at the front entrance, and borders over 100 acres of historic preserve on the cabin/stream side of the acreage.

My stay at Gunpowder Cabin was an absolutely wonderful experience. Tim’s attention to detail and personal touch made the cabin feel like home. The property is expansive with trails to explore and is located right on the river. Everything in the cabin was immaculately cleaned and Tim provided various complimentary items such as snacks and coffee/tea. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and am already looking forward to my next trip to Gunpowder Cabin. Highly recommend.
Perfect weekend getaway, wish we could have stayed longer!! Absolutely beautiful cabin with amazing views. Decorated beautifully. Loved the fireplace in the bedroom. Can't say enough about this cabin!! Great restaurants in the area.
Had an awesome stay at this beautiful cabin. Tucked in a neighborhood but felt completely secluded. The surrounding nature is AMAZING!! I have never seen so many eagles! The cabin itself is straight out of a magazine and comes with a full book of instructions for everything. Was surprised to even see some snacks, cooking oil and drinks plus alot of ice! My mother and I both felt very comfortable and at home the entire stay. Tim was very communicative and kind, a GREAT host! Im so grateful to have been able to stay at this unique cabin and definitely hope to return :)
From the moment we saw the listing we knew this was the one! We were looking for a quite serene getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life and Tim delivered! The house was immaculate and had everything you could want and more in an air bnb. The attention to detail and decor of the home made you want to extend your trip from the moment you stepped inside. The property is amazing and there's so much to explore! We will definitely be back!
Serene, peaceful, gorgeous getaway in the woods overlooking the Octararo creek! Whether enjoying the two fire pits perfectly located, one up in the canopy with eagles, osprey, herons, and lots of wildlife to gaze at, this place is a real escape, with cute small towns nearby and 25 mins from the Chesapeake! Timothy was an incredible host, communicated promptly and takes great care of the cabin and property. This was one of the nicest and most stocked places we’ve stayed, full kitchen and all utensils, pots/pans, and cooking basics, linens, towels, camping gear, and games for the family. We look forward to making another trip!

Hi, I'm Tim. A single father of three who grew up in the Baltimore area and was lucky enough to find a nearby outdoor retreat to share with my family, and now with you. I am a retailer and woodworker who enjoys the outdoors and wanted to create an escape where everyone could relax and get away from the world for a bit. I've created most of the art in the home and done most of the work on developing the property myself.
