The Roost at Coln is a stylish, romantic retreat for couples and their dog, a stone's throw from a well-renowned village pub and cafe. Full of character, it is a homely country cottage where you can relax in the secret garden and cosy up in front of the wood-burning stove. Two king-size bedrooms each have their own personality and the freestanding bath is a spa-like retreat. Spend days out at Cotswold Water Park, visiting Cirencester and Burford, or enjoying the walks from your front door. 1 well-behaved dog is welcome for an additional fee. This fee is not included in the rental fee. Please advise us at the time of booking and we will send you an amendment for the additional cost. This bolthole retreat in the charming village of Coln St Aldwyns is a relaxing getaway from busy life. Set walking distance from the village pub and the community shop, The Roost has been fully renovated and beautifully interior designed to create a homely Cotswold cottage. With exposed beams, wooden floors and a stone fireplace you can easily relax into your stylish surroundings. The well-equipped kitchen has a dining area and you can curl up in front of the wood burner in the sitting room with your evening drink. Two king-size bedrooms are finished with contemporary details and the spacious bathroom has a freestanding bath and rainfall shower. Each room has been carefully considered to create an impeccably finished home from home. Follow the garden path from the rear patio to reach the secret garden overlooking the surrounding beautiful countryside and farmland. Here you can safely let the dog play, enjoy sundowners around the firepit, gather for meals and forget the worries of working life. There are numerous walking routes you can follow from Coln St Aldwyns and nearby are Cirencester, Burford, Cotswold Water Park and Arlington Row at Bibury. Ground Floor Kitchen/Diner: Entering through the back door there is a small porch where you can leave your boots and coats before stepping through to the kitchen/diner. This is a stylish room with stone floors, soft green kitchen units and a dining area cleverly designed with a built-in bench which provides hidden storage. It is a well-equipped kitchen with an oven and hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge with a freezer compartment, coffee machine and the necessary small appliances. It is a light and bright room where you will enjoy having breakfast together before heading off for a walk with the dog. Living Room: The front door opens into the comfortable and cosy living room which is ideal for hunkering down in the cooler months in front of the wood-burning stove. With a choice of the sofa or armchairs there is plenty of room for the group. Wooden beams above and a statement rug decorating the wood flooring add personality to this room. First Floor Bedroom One: With a king-size bed this stunning room is like an escape to nature. With a nod to 1920s interior styling, the beautiful William Morris style woodland wallpaper surrounds you as you relax into The Roost. Split into two sections, the bed overlooks the gardens to the trees beyond. There is a desk area where you can catch up on e-mails if you can't leave them behind and there is space to set up a travel cot. A useful separate dressing area has plenty of storage space with a statement mirror so you can get ready for the day. Bathroom: A luxurious freestanding bath is the highlight of this room. You can bathe in style and total tranquillity. There is a separate rainfall shower, sink and WC. Bedroom Two: Inspired by the owner's stay in a luxurious Ibiza hotel, the second bedroom has a stylish built in king-size bed with a sumptuously padded surround. It is guaranteed to provide a comfortable night's sleep. Hidden beneath the bed is drawer storage and a chaise longue adds space to read in the evening. Outside Hidden along a path to the right of the patio is The Roost's secret garden. Passing the neighbouring traditional Cotswold country gardens, you reach the gated private garden through a foliage archway. This oasis is currently under renovation and will include a lawned area, table and chairs to dine al fresco and a fabulous fire pit area where you can roast marshmallows looking out across the farmland views. You are in the heart of beautiful Cotswold scenery and sitting here under the trees you are immersed in this picturesque setting. To the front of the cottage, on-street parking is available.
One of the undiscovered Cotswold villages, Coln St Aldwyns will delight anyone who wants to be immersed in the Cotswold countryside, have a memorable Cotswold experience, yet avoid the hustle and bustle of the Cotswolds' tourist hot spots. As with most Cotswold villages, Coln (as the locals call it) is steeped in history, with a perfectly maintained, 13th-century Norman church and 17th-century coaching inn, the New Inn. As you stroll around the village, you'll find endless photo opportunities to capture beautiful, honey-coloured, Cotswold limestone cottages backed by pastoral, rolling countryside.
Farm shops, delis, and shopping: The village shop in Coln St Aldwyns, just 2 minutes’ walk from The Roost has a range of essentials, a café, Post Office and lots of information on the local area. There is also a small cinema in the village, visit the shop for more details. Cirencester (9 miles) is a lovely town filled with independent boutique shops, a weekly market and a bi-weekly farmers’ market.

Walks: Following the River Coln you can enjoy a circular walk (6.7 miles) to the village of Bibury with its picturesque Arlington Row. The route takes about 3 hours and is fairly easy. Following the River Coln to the south you reach the town of Fairford, famous for its airshow. Making a loop you can follow the Pitham Brook path on your return to Coln.
