Located in the picturesque village of Alderwasley on the edge of the Peak District National Park, these lovely one-bedroom cottages feature exposed stone walls and original beams throughout and offer the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of life with friends. Situated in the picturesque village of Alderwasley in a peaceful and relatively undiscovered area, just a few miles from Matlock, Pendleton Cottage & Sparrows Roost are two charming, detached one bedroom cottages, ideally located on the edge of the Peak District National Park. These delightful properties retain their original character, with beams and exposed stonework throughout. Pendleton Cottage offers a bright and airy sitting room on the first floor, with ample cosy seating for everyone so you can relax after a days spent exploring the Peak District with your favourite film or box set. The sitting room leads into the cosy kitchen, with a dining table seating four guests. The well-equipped kitchen is the perfect space to prepare and cook a delicious meal for everyone, or to sit and have a morning coffee in solitude. The shower room is also on the ground floor and provides a spacious walk-in shower. Pendleton Cottage offers one bedroom with a super-king size bed. Pendleton Cottage welcomes one well-behaved medium sized dog, or two well-behaved small dogs. Sparrows Roost offers a cosy open-plan sitting, dining and kitchen area. The sitting area offers an electric wood burning stove effect fire, which is ideal for curling up in front of on the cooler evenings. There is also underfloor heating throughout the ground floor, allowing you to warm up after a long winters walk in the Peak District. The well-equipped kitchen is small, but offers ample space to prepare and cook your favourite meal and there is a dining area with a table seating two guests to allow you to enjoy the meal together. Upstairs, here is a comfortable bedroom with a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom, with an overhead shower. Sparrows Roost welcomes one well-behaved small dog. Combined, Pendleton Cottage and Sparrows Roost provide ample space for you to enjoy each others company and while away the evening in the comfortable dining area at Pendleton Cottage or on the sumptuous sofas. Equally, there is ample space for you to spend some time alone to refresh for the coming days of your holiday or to relax in your own company. Close to a working dairy farm and surrounded by countryside, you can enjoy the beautiful walks right from the front door with your four-legged friends. The owners have prepared detailed maps and directions for walks around the cottages, so you can find the prettiest footpaths and best views. Guests are also welcome to wander the paddocks. Additional Information: There are wood burning stoves and electric heating throughout both cottages. One well-behaved medium sized dog or two small dogs welcome at Pendleton Cottage and one small well-behaved dog welcome at Sparrows Roost (additional charge per dog). Please restrict your dog to the ground floor of both cottages. We politely request that they do not go on the furniture. Thank you in advance. Please do not leave dogs unattended. A dog sitting service is available on-site, subject to availability and pre-booking. Sorry, no children. Infants welcome. A travel cot and highchair can be accommodated in the properties, but are not provided. The surrounding paddocks are owned by the owners so please feel free to walk your dog here when the fields aren't in use. Guided weekend walks are available subject to availability. The owners live on-site in a separate area, so are there to assist as required, however, guest privacy will be respected at all times. Gas barbecues are provided. Please note, whilst the properties can be booked as a combination sleeping four guests, dining in each property is restricted to four and two guests respectively.

Pendleton Cottage & Sparrows Roost make the perfect base for walking in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, surrounded by woods and valleys which boasts stunning views.
The Bear Inn is an award winning pub within a 15 minute walk from the cottages, serving excellent food along with is famous Sunday carvery and is also dog friendly!
This area is steeped in history and well located within easy reach of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, Bakewell and Ashbourne.
The historic market town of Wirksworth is just two miles away and has shops, pubs and a couple of very nice restaurants and take-aways.
Visit the nearby country houses of Chatsworth, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, or Haddon Hall where you can enjoy a selection of wonderful walks within the Mediaeval Parkland, and Hardwick a spectacular Elizabethan house filled rich furnishings and tapestries preserved by successive generations of the Devonshire family.
There are a wealth of activities for all to enjoy in the Peak District including a number of cycling trails for all abilities, and even horse riding. For the ultimate activity why not try a hot air balloon ride or even a helicopter pleasure flight?
Those for a head of heights will love Go Ape set in the heart of the Peak District National Park, or if you fancy a fright you can visit Bolsover Castle and do a ghost tour.
