Ashton's place was a great value and was way better than fighting the crowds at nearby campgrounds. It is one site only, so very secluded. Only downsides were the wind (which is unfortunate, but to be expected in the area) and the lack of a driveway. it's quite a walk with all your gear across the cacti and desert grass to the camp pad, but had amazing views of Mt. Blanca and the night sky. Would definitely stay here again!
Ashton was a wonderful host with a beautiful, quiet and private place. It was so nice to be out in the desert with a view of the mountain and the stars.
The part that will stand out the most is that this property is situated on a breathtaking view. Some things to note for future travelers… You will need a four-wheel-drive vehicle if you planto car camp. He does allow parking on the narrow road and you certainly won’t be bothered by any visitors. It was a very quiet evening. Be mindful that it is at the bottom of a mountain, so it gets cold at night.
I have some neighbors that might come & check on you out of curiosity & to make sure everything is good! Don’t be alarmed & call me if you need me! I will also make them aware of your presence as well just to make sure everything is smooth! Also, you can take a hot shower at the Alamosa Recreation center for $3 or pay $5 for an all day pass with full gym access located about 20-30 minutes away!
Driving directions:
Do not use the address connected to the listing! Pass the small town of Blanca, before US-150, turn on to Fourth ST & then follow the check in directions I send a day early!
Also do not speed in Blanca & wear your seatbelts! My neighbors informed me that police pull people over out of boredom! So please be cautious & stay safe! Love y’all!
If you’re coming from the small town of Blanca you’ll take a right off of US-160 onto Fourth ST, then take a left onto Pine Avenue & follow it all the way down until you see LL 11th Street, turn right on to LL 11th Street & follow the road down about a block & look for the red reflectors! (if you see/pass a little homemade outhouse then you went just a little too far lol)
