Immediately around the cape that forms one side of the cove is Catfish Bay, overlooked by Catfish Bay Marina and the Lake Texoma State Park campgrounds. Just down the lake in the opposite direction is Alberta Creek Marina. We sit in a quiet spot between, in a small lake community with around 10 houses and maybe 2 or 3 active trailer homes or stationary RVs, the standard "lake life" mix of some well-maintained cabins and some that need a bit of love, although it's cleaner than most other areas around the lake where you'll find very few site built homes, if any. Once you're inside our place, almost every view of the outdoors faces downhill towards the peaceful view of woods or water, where there's only a single other house in view to the southwest, which the owners very rarely visit. We are surrounded all along our South and East boundaries by pristine national woodlands owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, who control the lake, land leased by Lake Texoma State Park. The area is extremely quiet, gets dark at night, and 90% of the time you feel totally alone with nature. When you do catch a glimpse through the right window looking back uphill, opposite the lake, there is another large house just next door to the Southwest, and another property due South of us where they seem to be "collecting" quite a few things around their old house and trailer, but we really only notice them on the drive in. It really feels like a secluded escape being here!
