This place is special to anyone wanting to escape the modern world and unwind. It is not a hotel and therefore you need to understand it is run with the environment in mind. They use solar energy and rain water to sustain there living, that said this is adequate for those who don't have the need for hundreds of electric gadgets and the need to shower three times a day. Ivy and Olmo are amazing hosts providing all you require. The remote location does mean you need to be prepared to self cater, however they are available to provide food and do offer a menu. There culinary skills are great and the ingredients are as fresh as you will get. We had pizza and ceviche from the sea only caught and few hours before. This place was special to our small family and we hold the memories and experiences fondly. Although it seems expensive compared to other options it is worth it purely to escape and get back to nature. Thanks Ivy and Olmo and we wish you all the luck for the future.

Unique property in an amazing location but not for everyone. Xcalak is the southernmost town in Quintana Roo and Ivy's house is another 3 miles South of town. The property is very isolated and completely off the grid. If you're looking to stay in a cute place, roll out and walk around browsing shops and eating in cafe's before lounging on the beach then this property and Xcalak itself probably isn't for you. If you want to explore a remote and beautiful part of the Yucatan and require only the bare necessities then you should be fine here. Plan to venture down with a capable rental car as the road can be pretty rough, bug spray, and groceries for the length of your stay as Xcalak is pretty limited on grocery and dining options. Ivy was a welcoming host and available to help whenever needed. After we got our rental car stuck out on a backroad outside of town she arranged for a local to pick us up and help us dig it out. She and her partner Olmo kindly shared fresh lobster from the reef with us and provided a wealth of local info on the area. The property itself covers the bare necessities but shouldn't be considered luxurious in any way. The house could use some work and is suffering from quite a bit of deferred maintenance. The upstairs offers a decent hang out zone but the property isn't really suited to lounging. The location offers some incredible opportunities for the motivated though. The reef out front is a true wonder and the house is ideally located for diy fishermen looking to access multiple ocean side and Chetumal Bay areas. Kayaks or paddle boards would be strongly recommended to make the most of the location. At the time of our visit Ivy and Olmo were in the process of purchasing the property and have some grand plans for its future. With some money, vision, and work this could be a really remarkable property. Best of luck to them going forward!

Ivy and Omo are amazing hosts who live the experience they want you to have! The reef out front is alive and beautiful, we were able to kayak or and snorkel. They caught and cooked and amazing dinner for us, fresh fish, octopus, conch, and the ceviche was to die for! Expect rustic surroundings and experiences you won't forget.

Muy buena relación precio- calidad, es una casa con lo básico y necesario para disfrutar del lugar. La ubicación es única, frente al mar, en un lugar super privado, no hay nada cerca y se puede apreciar bien la naturaleza. Ivy y Olmo se esforzaron al máximo para que nuestra estadía fuera lo mas confortable posible!

This was a great place with a great host! We felt welcomed and very in tune with Mexico as a whole. Would recommend to any adventurous travelers.
