It was a beautiful atmosphere and squeaky clean to boot! Every question we had was acknowledged and attended to immediately by the hosts and we could not have asked for a better experience.
Staying at Parrot’s Perch was a dream come true! The location offers breathtaking sunset views and a peaceful retreat away from the city’s hustle. The villa is modern, clean, and equipped with everything you need. The private driveway and gated property add extra security, allowing you to relax completely. The bed in our unit was extremely comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The air conditioning worked perfectly, kept up with the summer heat with no problems! The AC was so quiet that it didn’t disturb our rest. The hosts, Michelle and Thomas, were wonderful. They were attentive and provided us with invaluable insights about the area. We loved listening to the Coqui frogs at night, and spotting exotic birds and wildlife during the day. Overall, we had a fantastic time at Parrot’s Perch and would definitely stay again. We recommend it 10/10 to our friends and family. If you’re looking for a peaceful, nature-filled getaway with top-notch hosts, this is the place to be!
This Villa is a little piece of paradise. The view is incredible. Watching the sunset each night & listening to the birds sing in the morning was so peaceful. We saw MANY beautiful emerald hummingbirds. We loved the shower too. The space was clean, well maintained, & comfortable. The hosts were very responsive with any questions we had and our stay was a 10/10. I would definitely rent with them again in the future!
Had an absolute blast staying at their place, and loved every minute of it. Hosts were incredible and easy to communicate with. Got food posioning, and they brought me extra water/ginger-ale to the room. Easydrive in from Cruz bay that anyone with a maps app can figure out, and a gated property with private driveway for the space. Once you get inside it’s one big room with the kitchenette to the right and the outdoor space to the left. There is a microwave and a mini fridge there, but no oven. There is a great grill outside on the deck that’s easy to use. The deck is very private, and has a phenomenal view. It’s very peaceful in the morning and at night watching the sunsets then the lights and stars after dark. Huge bathroom with an oversized shower with tons of water pressure that you don’t always find on the island. Very conveniently located to all the regular spots in Cruz bay, 10 mins each way to dinner or to the market. Would absolutely love to stay again!
We enjoyed our stay in the 1 bedroom unit. It had everything we needed and a view of sunset which we made sure to be “home” for. It was so quiet inside, comfy bed for a good night sleep and off to the beautiful beaches.

Parrot's Perch is located in a residential area adjacent to the Gifft Hill School, conveniently located near a main road for easy access, and in close proximity to various dining and entertainment options such as restaurants and bars.
SHOULD I RENT A VEHICLE?
Yes, it's advisable to reserve a Jeep or similar vehicle in advance. It's important not to delay this aspect of your vacation planning because there's high demand, and some travelers have found themselves without transportation. St. John is an island, not a city, and having a car is essential. Uber and Lyft are not available here, and taxi services can become quite costly. Additionally, taxis are not readily available all over the island, and you might experience delays in getting one. There are no inexpensive taxi options or scooters for spontaneous rides, so guests are responsible for arranging their own transportation.
HIKING vs DRIVING
What enhances St. John's beauty is its predominant status as a national park, boasting stunning mountainous panoramas. Flat terrain is scarce, which results in vacation rentals being situated in mountainous areas that are not conveniently within walking distance to beaches, hiking trails, or restaurants. Nearly all of St. John's beaches and the adjacent areas for beach access are nestled within the boundaries of the national park. Consequently, the majority of villas are perched in the mountains, making walking to these attractions quite challenging compared to driving.
TERRAIN
The mountainous landscape across the island is characterized by steep, rough, and often narrow roads with sharp turns as you navigate up or down the mountains. While the roads leading to our villa are fully paved, some others are not and can be quite challenging. Opting for a Jeep or 4x4 vehicle is the recommended choice for a more enjoyable exploration of the island because these vehicles offer higher clearance and the capability to conquer steep and rugged hills.
RENTING VEHICLE IN ST JOHN vs ST THOMAS
The advantages of renting a Jeep in St. John surpass those of renting one in St. Thomas:
Benefits of reserving a Jeep on St. John:
1- In case of vehicle issues, the Jeep rental company is readily available in St. John to assist you, including the possibility of vehicle replacement if necessary.
2- You can avoid long queues of cars waiting to board ferries to St. John if one or more car ferries are out of service for maintenance.
3- If you have a late flight or experience delays (such as flight delays or traffic), you can still take the foot ferry to reach your car rental and villa rental for the night. This saves you the inconvenience of potentially having to backtrack to cross over to St. John from St. Thomas the next day, which would also entail additional taxi or ride service charges to reach and return from the villa.
4- The foot ferry operates later than the car ferry, so in the event of delays, you can still reach St. John by foot. For example, if you arrive late, obtain your Jeep, but miss the car ferry to St. John.
Benefits of renting on St. Thomas:
1- The Jeep rental company may be willing to arrange to meet you at the airport.
2- Convenient access for grocery shopping.
