We loved staying at the Birdhouse -such an appropriate name considering the concert the birds put on every morning! The house is exactly as described; although the pictures don't do the architectural design of the house justice- it is truly a work of art - such a unique house. It was so well appointed & organized- especially the kitchen. Every drawer was organized making it very easy to make a meal. I am a stickler with cleanliness & this is one of the few rentals I felt I didn't need to "clean" before "living" in it. Chimene was a great host - gave great suggestions for activities & was very responsive before & during our trip. Our 3 boys loved the outside space & the pool & of course the "kids realm." Our favorite activity in Gamboa was the boat tour of the Chagres River & Gatun Lake -we saw so many animals (monkeys, sloths, crocs) & got so close to the big cargo ships going through the canal - was such a great experience! Thank you Chimene for sharing your lovely home with us!
This place was an absolute gem. The house is super spacious and this is the perfect place to call home, whether it’s a short term or long term stay. There is aircon in the basement, but the house is designed in a way you get great air circulation in the other rooms so it was super comfortable to sleep without it on the other floors. The kitchen is huge and very well equipped to make meals. Despite this, we opted to have a chef prepare and deliver our dinners which was an amazing luxury after long days enjoying everything Gamboa has to offer (Chimene, the Airbnb host, provided us with the contact). The private pool was an absolute hit with the kids and I loved watching the birds (including toucans!!) while lazing on the deck. Our host was super helpful and very responsive to all of our questions, as well as providing loads of tips on what to see and do around Gamboa. All in all this was a fantastic stay and I highly recommend the place. Looking forward to staying there again soon!
Chimene’s place was incredible, with astonishing architecture, beautifully designed, very well prepared to host and comfortable for many guests. Chimene also allowed us to have do an early check in to enjoy more of the day there. Unfortunately, the gazebo by the pool was under maintenance and it gets really hot and sunny outside, so bring umbrellas to get some shade.
We loved our stay at The Birdhouse! It was a great place to stay as a family with young kids, and was an architectural treat. Very close to rainforest excursions, and everyone in town was very friendly. Highly recommend hiring Kamir for catering.

Hi, I'm originally from the beautiful coastal town of Savannah Georgia. My husband and I moved to Panama in 1989 to become part of the Smithsonian in Panama. We have happily raised our three children in this vibrant environment. Gamboa is a true gem for the naturalist as well as a golden opportunity for the history buff. Your stay in our house will be an opportunity to connect with nature in a unique piece of architecture.
