The REAL Barcelona, a captivating 19th Century family flat in the city centre. Original mosaic floors, high windows/ceilings, ornate mouldings, luminous. “Belle Epoque”-era home : Imagine: neighbouring Gaudí&the Modernist architects or saunter down Rambla de Catalunya to the Gothic & down to the sea. Connects to all systems of transit and pedestrian routes in minutes. A glimpse of life in the Mediterranean and an inspiration for designers, musicians, architects, film creatives, historians etc This is the habitual living space of the host and her husband where they sleep, work and live at the opposite end of the flat, quite independently of this very large room. It’s diaphanous spacious and gorgeous colourful 19th century mosaic tiled floors add to the experience as one of its main features. The door to the shared kitchen and hallway to the family-sized shared bathroom can be closed if needed and an added work space exists just 3 metres from this high-ceiling of a room. The shutters can be closed if a darker room is required or to quieten the space from the outside ambient sounds typical of Barcelona.

Ellen and Mario were amazing hosts and immediately made me feel at home in their lovely apartment. They were so kind and considerate! I stayed for 2 weeks and the location was perfect, with easy walking wherever I wanted to go. Train and metro nearby too. Excellent restaurants and shops just around the corner. A beautiful room with a balcony to return to after exploring the city. Had absolutely everything I needed. I would definitely stay with them again!
Ellen and Mario were terrific hosts who made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. Aside from sharing many common interests and lovely conversations, the apartment is charming and comfy, easy to feel at home in and the neighborhood is a regular, well-situated area, pleasant to wander through, with excellent cafes and restaurants.
Very nice room, Ellen and Mauro were perfect hosts, so warm and generous. Good location, close to everything. Only bad thing was the trafic noice in the room, but I got used to it. Thank’s for a wonderful week!

What a perfect place. Especially for a solo traveler, especially for a woman, especially for an artist. Ellen and Mario were so helpful and kind and I would not hesitate to come back to this spot. The very adorable cats and dog were also a plus. Very well located, comfortable bed in a spacious room with a balcony. 10/10

It´s 5 minutes walk from a few of the Gaudi&Modernist architectural gems, close to all brand-name shops added to high end and designer stores; Great restaurants; Very safe at night; Original language cinemas near by; multi-lingual services in most shops, pharmacies and hospitals, public and private included; In short, this is a neighbourhood to ramble through and enjoy the uniqueness of Barcelona
Minutes away from all forms of inter-connected public transit systems, including inner-city metros, buses, FCG (outskirts transit) and travel out of the city on the Renfe trains and buses as well as taxis; Nearby pedestrian routes through the area convenient for walks, cycling and e-bikes and private and public parking facilities.
