We visited in April for a quiet retreat with the family to celebrate the end of a battle with cancer and a birthday. The area is very quiet and scenic. We were there off season so there were fewer options locally for food or entertainment. (A good place to pick up smoked meats and other foods in Big Lake year round Exit 92 BBQ) In nearby Rulo there is a decent bar and grill with great river views and a grocery store with a few restaurants in Mound City. Otherwise, bring what you need, the house has a great kitchen even extra freezer space. We enjoyed fishing off the dock, cleaning and preparing our catch right there. We were able to easily cook our fish in the spacious and well appointed kitchen. There was plenty of supplies for cleaning laundry and dishes afterwards. This house is a great get away for NW Missouri. We were a group of 6 of varying ages and abilities, there were games, a office space, more than enough TVs available and Wi-Fi strong enough for a 6 gaming. Would return.

We stayed over a long Easter weekend and had a great time relaxing on the porch and fishing with the kids!! In the evening there was plenty of room inside for everyone to play games and watch movies:) We will definitely be back!
