THE TOURISTIC VILLAGE OF SHIROKA, lies on the edge of Lake Shkodra, below the mountain of Taraboshi, only 7 km from the city. Shiroka is one of the touristic and climatic pearls of Shkodra, but also on a national level, known since the 19th century for its curative and naturopathic abilities (the healing power of nature). Researchers think that an alpine air current coming from the depths of the Alps, filters into the waters of the lake and comes healthy here, at the foot of the mountain of Tarabosh. For a long time, this village has been visited by families whose children had health problems and after a while the improvements were visible, due to the climate, the mountain with the sage (Salvia) of the area and 1100 other species of plants, which make up almost 1/3 of the plant species in the country. Many of these medicinal plants spread the scents in to the air. The tourist spot of Shiroka is undoubtedly one of the most special attractions that offer a holyday to be near it. A holyday that, in addition to the climate and fresh air also includes many water sports activities, handicrafts and an added value is the gastronomy pleasure of enjoying a lunch in the many restaurants that have been built in recent years in this area. It is impossible not to ask to taste the Shkodra's carp casserole, which is a traditional dish of the area passed down from generation to generation. LAKE SHKODRA, a national park, is the largest lake and the largest fishing region in the Balkan Peninsula with an area of 368 km square. It is 43 km long and 14 km wide. The deepest point of the lake is about 45 meters. At the south-eastern lies Shkodra, from where the lake gets its name. On the southern coast, the pebbled beaches stand out on the road from Shkodra to Shirokë and Zogaj, where the largest is Zalli i bardhe. The fauna of the lake is diverse and rich with 45 species of fish and 270 species of birds, and also a refuge station for many migratory birds. Here also lives the rare pelican (nesiti, gemi), the largest swimming bird in Europe. These birds make up 87% of the entire Ornitofauna of Albania. The specialty of the lake is the lotus (kasarani), a plant with edible fruit that grows here. It is a strange plant that, even though its roots are in water, it doesn’t bear fruit if it doesn’t rain during the summer.

CITY OF SHKODRA, one of the oldest cities of Albania and Balkans dating back from ancient Illyrian times, well- known for its cultural heritage and with its unlimited natural beauties. There are numbers of fascinating ancient ruins to explore, and can be found around the city. The amazing natural landscape is a prominent aspect of the city’s alluring beauty, due to its numerous cultural and natural touristic attractions, and situated in a perfect location. It became one of the most visited and main touristic attraction of Albania. Shkodra is a city that lies in the north-west of Albania, halfway between the Adriatic Sea and Albanian Alps with a pretty typical of the Mediterranean climate. This wonderful city has 13 peaks in the Alps and they are parts of Dinaric Alps that exceed 2000 m in height, such as: Jezerca (2.694 m), Radohima (2.570 m), etc. Nature has been very generous with the city of Shkodra and has blessed it with wonderful places such as the valley of Shala, the valley of Kiri, Perroit te Thate, etc. The city is surrounded by the lake, three rivers on its sides, and crowned by gorgeous Albanian Alps. Precisely at the feet of the ancient Rozafa castle, the cold waters of the Drin and Kiri rivers meet the water of Buna River, joining at a point and continuing to finish their journey together, pouring into the Adriatic Sea mouth. Just there starts largest beach of Albania, Velipoja with its 15 km uninterrupted sandy-beach with fine and clean sand, which is called by the residents “medical sand" for its curative properties. The beach is renewed every year by the tides. The sand of the entire sandy area has the highest percentage of iodine on the entire Albanian coast. It is 32 km distance from the villa, about 30 min by car.
