You can also visit the ruined castle, dating back to the early 12th-century, along with the iron age earthworks still visible to this day and once controlled an important river crossing of the Towy. It surrounds a restored Grade II listed mansion which is perfect for cream teas whilst enjoying the scenery. While travelling west not to be missed is the historic township of Laugharne with the home town of the famous poet, Dylan Thomas. You can view his writing shed, his former home and enjoy some fine locally brewed ales in his favourite pub.
