Get away from the pace of modern life in Godrecynnen, a traditional cottage in the Welsh countryside. Nature is literally on your doorstep. Sustainable living at it’s best with wood fired heating and hot water, comfy beds and traditional furniture. A small drive away you will find the beaches of Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion. On the other side the hills of the Brecon Beacons. The local pub is just a small walk down the road for those who enjoy a pint (drinks&cash only). This house is very old. Think of someone much older than you but who you’re very fond of. They are not perfect but you don’t mind because you understand that with age comes character. When we bought the house in 2013, it had been empty for two years, the roof was leaking and it was very damp. After 10 years of working on and off, it is now a home again. We have kept as many of the original features as possible and why replace old with new when old is fully functional? Staying away from plastic and concrete as much as possible, sourcing second hand (antique) goods, recycling doors, tiles and flagstones has kept the costs down and made the house more sustainable and authentic. As the woodlands on our farm yield enough logs to keep the house warm we decided to make use of this local energy source. We provide more than enough logs to see you through your stay. We hope you agree the house has a lovely feel to it with a large kitchen diner, charming living room and cosy reading/work/games room. There is a bathroom downstairs with a walk-in shower, a bath and a toilet. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, one with two single beds, one with a king size bed and one with a double bed. The house is basic (in keeping with its character) but there are a washing machine, small under counter deep freezer and a fridge. Surrounded by nature, peace and tranquillity this is a lovely getaway. You can literally hear an owl hooting whilst snuggled up in bed. We hope you will enjoy your stay. Anuschka and Roger were lovely hosts. Very peaceful location, the lambs were a bonus! The house is gorgeous with everything you could possibly need. Nice and clean. The duvets were super warm too! Anuschka met us and gave clear instructions on how to work the esse cooker (stove cooker). It’s close to the beaches which the dogs loved. We will definitely recommend this and hopefully be back soon!
We had the most wonderful stay at Godrecynnen Farmhouse! The house was just perfect and exactly what we were hoping for during those winter in between days - cosy, warm, inviting and so well equipped! Anuschka was an incredibly kind, generous and responsive host - providing a train set and games for our children as well as treats on arrival and store cupboard/fridge supplies! We couldn’t have enjoyed our days there more - we would've happily spent the whole of January hibernating there!
Roger and anushka were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. We spent some of our Christmas Day with them and thoroughly enjoyed each others company. They even gave us veg as we left ours at home! My mum even broke their toilette and they were extremely understanding and kind about it. The house itself is absolutely serene and peaceful with plenty room and in a very traditional style, we extremely enjoyed the use of theirs esse oven, spending most of our time around that having instant hot water and warming our toes. I would 100% stay there again and will look forward to doing so. Highly recommend this stay and highly recommend interacting with the lovely family. Book it now, it was worth every penny
Our long weekend stay was everything we wanted and more. Roger and Anuschka are not only welcoming, helpful and lovely to deal with, but they really made us feel at home and hosted with care. The cottage has all your bases covered, from plenty of cooking and dining area, to multiple spaces for relaxing and having some quiet down time. The cottage is simple and traditional but extremely homely, comfortable and full of quality at the same time. It's an ideal getaway from any type of fast paced living. Heartily recommend dropping into the local tavern a short stroll away, ideal after being out on a walk or of an evening; friendly, welcoming, and a cracking pint of Guinness!
