The staff were very helpful and responded to my questions about our stay quickly. The cottage was immaculate and allowed us to step back in time and experience some of the history of Arthurdale. We had a wonderfully educational private tour conducted by the former director, Jeanne Goodman. I now have more appreciation for Eleanor Roosevelt than ever before! My wife and I appreciate the extra yard everyone went making our stay enjoyable and educational during a down holiday time. Thanks so much. The cottage and experience was worth every penny. Had a wonderful stay in Arthurdale. It is a historic community, and the house and furnishings fit its surroundings. I really liked the period pieces in the house, the photos, artwork and the information regarding each. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a slower pace, historical surroundings, nature lovers. Plenty of natural beauty to see.

Our stay was wonderful. The cottage -- lovely and quiet and very comfortable -- felt like home even though it was a first visit. It is also a perfect base for exploring Arthurdale and learning about an often overlooked piece of American history. The heritage sites are are being carefully and faithfully restored; staff are knowledgeable; and there is a surprising amount to see there and in the area. The Trellis Cafe in Reedsville has very good food and is a short walk to an old church that periodically holds concerts. The West Virginia Equestrian Center is nearby and a former school houses a large, well-stocked antique store in Masontown. The only disappointment of the visit was having to leave. We will definitely return!

What a charming home. We had friends that were staying at their family home a few minutes away and were so pleasantly surprised to come across this home for our stay. Will definitely be back. Very clean and beautiful, peaceful surroundings...Loved our time there!!!
